Used this to turn 2 twin mattresses into a king bed. It worked really well! The foam and the mattress cover are together but separate pieces in case you want to wash the cover. Both are very comfortable and the top cover, while not water proof, does have a cover so that if you catch a spill quickly (about 3-5 min), it beads on top of the material and you can just dab it up. After that, you have to wash it, but it washes easily. Recommend only drying until slightly damp with dryer balls, and remove from the dryer promptly and spread out to dry the rest of the way. First, I want to say the pros. The 1st Pro is that it is def a good thick memory foam. The top cover is definitely deep enough to cover the foam and be snug under and around your Mattress. I have slept on it for almost a week and my arms do not go numb anymore. I have a very expensive mattress that has a special lumbar middle to prevent sagging and back pain. My mattress is amazing but too firm. This topper helped alleviate the pressure point issues I was having with sleeping. Now the CONS. 1st of all…. The chemical smell! OMG it makes your eyes and nostrils burn. It is not something that can be ignored. It smells like nail polish and formaldehyde! Horrible. I almost sent it back because my lungs burned from the smell! I mean I’ve never smelled anything so horrible in my life. It is winter in Western PA so airing it outside is impossible! I tried to let it air out before I slept on it but it needed a few days to do so. I have a king size bed so airing it out in a separate room was not happening. I had to open my windows in my bedroom and turn my ceiling fan on for an entire day turning the foam over mid day. Then I sprayed it with Febreeze. It’s been a week and it is ok to sleep on, but it still has a faint smell. The topper is not 2 inches.. it is at most 1/2 inch and it is not cooling. It actually makes me warm. Overall I have to keep it because how can I return it?? And the foam is great. If you don’t want to endure the smell and process then don’t order. Otherwise it is a decent topper I just don’t understand why it smells so badly?? ... show more

First things first, the photos advertised do not match the actual product. The foam piece expands much less. I, personally, give this topper 4.5 stars. I prefer a firmer, more supportive mattress. This fits the bill for me. It is soft but on the firmer side. I'm also cold all the time so I was worried about the cooling technology. I actually felt warmer, so if you're a 'hot' sleeper, this doesn't keep you cool at all. Which leads me to my husband's review. He IS a hot sleeper. He found that he kept kicking his blankets off to cool down. He also prefers a cloud-soft surface that he can sink down into. This topper was way too firm for him. I researched these toppers for at least 3 months before I made this purchase. My bed was uncomfortable 😫 I would sink down in the middle and my hands would continuously fall asleep. I had doubts after first opening the box due to the cushions being rolled up tightly ,however the foam filled out perfectly after stretching the foam to fit my matress and then allowing an hour or so to plump up to full capacity. I placed the cooling layer on top after giving sufficient time and it fit around my mattress perfectly. I have chronic back pain , and I was pleasantly surprised to find that since the first night and every night after, I have slept better than I have in a very long time. The cooling pad does keep you cool all night and I really love the combination feature.
