Quick edit here since I have bought four more of these since my first one, obviously I love it. I'll say again that it looks like it should cost at least four times as much as it does. Unfortunately, assembly/disassembly continues to be its only weak point.. It took 2-3 fairly capable guys an hour or two to get these very fussy threaded pipe sections screwed together just right on each lamp.. But once it's done, it's done, unless you have to take it apart again at some point. Also I have grown to like the retro 3-way mechanism more (get a 3-way LED bulb!) as I have gotten less enchanted with smart bulbs. Most people just want to walk up to the darn light and turn the switch.. Having to futz around with a phone or get Alexa to hear you right just isn't any value added for most people in most situations, and if their manually switching the light screws up the "smart" function, it's not so smart after all. (Of course MY lights are smart, changing color and brightness and white color tempterature etc, because I'm a nerd.) This torchiere is elegant and looks great. My perfect balance between fancy and plain. It's pretty obviously a reproduction, but handsomely designed and constructed, and wonderfully cheap. It looks pure black to me, with tiny subtle rings of gold around the pleasantly substantial base. It arrives as a series of tubes (like the internet!) with long and fragile threaded joints. You'll want some WD-40. Even with that helpful lubricant liberally applied, there's one joint I can't get all the way screwed together. Other than this ridiculous overthreading, assembly is easy: one base, five tubes, one top piece, one nicely frosted shade. The tubes are already strung together with the electrical cord. No tools required. Note that it's a 3-way lamp so works best with a 3-way bulb (not included). The 3-way LED bulbs seem expensive, and I'm sure the lamp would work with a 1-way bulb. The whole 3-way concept is antique and far inferior to a dimmer, preferably a smart dimmer, paired with a dimmable LED bulb (many are not dimmable and there's a slight price premium). For now, it's an affordable and attractive lamp, cheap at $35 or so. Classiest things in my living room for sure. Well, classiest lamps. ... show more

I have four of this lamp. Very pleased with them overall. One of two I recently bought failed to assemble properly, possibly due to bad threading, resulting in instability of the vertical pole. I requested a replacement pole segment to attempt repair the lamp myself, but instead their customer service sent an entire replacement lamp in a very timely fashion after only a single e-mail interaction. The floor lamp is easy to assemble and came in a good variety of finishes including the glass shade and main fixture I chose bronze tone and an amber shade to go with a traditional decor room It didn’t look out of place and give good overhead light in a room with no ceiling fixtures

Anyone not thinking of ordering one of these lamps due to some of the reviews stating it was difficult to put together please don’t listen. I did it in 5-10 minutes time. I almost didn’t purchase because it’s hard to return once out of the box. It’s simple I had not one issue and it looks great. Just needed extra lighting in my bedroom and it’s perfect for that. If you need that then get it you won’t be disappointed. I’m writing this because I wish someone else would have so I didn’t think twice. Was a good purchase for the price point. ... show more

Great lamp. Goes together in minutes. Solid base, in brushed nickel, it looks great. NICE swirl glass shade is much nicer than plastic. I have a similar lamp I purchased locally for a lot more $$$. They are practically identical twins. Don't hesitate like I did initially with bad reviews on this one. "These are the droids you're looking for". 100% satisfied! I really like Torchiere lamps, as they give a nice light to a room without totally making it daylight. Perfect for a background light when watching TV. Problem with many is the sturdiness and ability to stand up straight. Nature of pole lights. This light is pretty good and as sturdy of a light as expected for the price. The base is strong, so think this will last. Simple tasteful design. I gave the packaging a 1 star because the Marbelized Glass Shade came broken in about 100 pieces. Pretty easy to assemble, as long as you take your time starting the threads on the pole pieces, making sure not to cross-thread. I did not return the light, because I still had the shade from a worn out light, so the shade in the photo is not the one that comes with the light. The shade that comes with the light is very thin and fragile, unlike the one I had, so elected to just use it instead of returning the light, although I hate buying and keeping defective items. ... show more
