Description

Effects pedal Vocoder and Harmony Machine. Includes 9,6DC-200 PSU power supply. From the Manufacturer The Voice Box packs a multi- functional vocal synth processor into a tough and compact chassis. Sing, and you'll have a troupe of backup singers following you in perfect harmony. Or use the built-in vocoder to unleash classic synth-robot sounds. Diana Ross had the Supremes, Brian Wilson had the Beach Boys, Kraftwerk had The Robots. You have the Voice Box.The harmony processor creates 2- to 4-part harmonies directly from your vocals, in the same key as your accompanying instrument. Studio-quality reverb lets you independently add depth to your dry and harmony vocals. The focused 256-band articulate vocoder, designed by the same EMS genius who made vocoding famous, features adjustable harmonic enhancement and controllable formant shift.Plug in your mic and your instrument, and let your new voice -- or voices -- be heard!Features • Intelligent vocal harmonies: follows the chords you play on your instrument and the note you sing to create from 2 to 4 part harmonies in the same key as your instrument. • Natural Glissando: harmony notes will follow your natural glissando between notes without interval stepping. • Tracks any electric instrument you plug into it. • Vocoder mode. • Very professional quality pitch shifting algorithm produces realistic harmonies. • Gender bender knob allows for male/female formant modification. • Voice Mix knob allows you to mix the harmonies to taste.Want lots of 5th and a little 3rd? You can do that. • Low Harmony mode produces two harmony notes: a 3rd and 5th, both below the note you sing. • High Harmony mode produces two harmony notes: a 3rd and 5th, both above the note you sing. • Low/High Harmony mode produces one 3rd below and one 3rd above. • 3 Multi Harmony modes allow for more complex harmony combinations above and below the note you sing plus octaves. • Octave mode produces notes exactly one octave above and below the note you sing. • Whistle mode is a fun new effect that synthesizes a whistle tone exactly one octave above the note you sing. • Separate reverb controls are available for both your dry and effected vocals. • Built-In Mic Pre with Phantom Power and Gain switch. • Balanced XLR Line Output to interface directly with any mixing board or A/D converter. • High impedance, very low noise instrument input and output so your guitar signal stays intact with no loss of tone. • 9 user presets to save with footswitchable recall. • Tough and compact die-cast chassis. • US96DC-200BI power supply included.

  • great machine
This box works exactly as advertised. When I first got it, I played around with all of the settings, but I have been mainly using the octave setting for the past month. With a minimum of tweaking it produces a very realistic female voice an octave above my voice. Not realistic enough to make it the lead voice, but very convincing behind another voice. The other settings also work well, although since they require a voice and an instrument input, they are a bit more finicky. For instance the vocoder setting is a bit weird with guitar because it cuts in and out as the guitar's volume fluctuates. If you compress the guitar, you get a more traditional vocoder sound. Overall, an amazing piece of equipment. ... show more

  • Almost there .....
I was a bit disappointed that you have to play an instrument while using this box to get the harmony. I am not a singer by nature and find it tricky playing guitar while singing. That said, as a songwriter, I am able to produce some demos that have a richer vocal sound and reflect something similar to my intended sound. Quality is good and the pre-sets are very useable. Must say though - the whistle effect ...................WTF??? ... show more

  • Amazing for singing guitarists and pianists...
I bought this originally for the vocoder. I wanted a unique sound. Then I found myself using the amazing harmony settings more and more. This pedal gives me that perfect vocal sound that i'm looking for, and with my switch pedal I can use my piano and make my robot vocoder vocals... This pedal really is great. I just love how it reads the chords you play and it spits out perfect harmonies... If you want your vocals going into an amp that doesnt have an XLR input then you need an adapter. Luckily I had one lying around. The reason why I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because the price seemed a little steep. I wouldve felt more comfy paying 150. But still. I feel like its worth the money. ... show more

  • 100% snafu on seller
unfortunately, due to travel i only recently retrieved this product which i purchased used "LIKE NEW". It came with a non-functioning adapter and once powered up is basically not functioning correctly, the vocoder doesn't do anything and the harmonies DON'T change with the instrument chord changes. the unfortunate part is that since it is over 90 days that i ordered this i am basically stuck with a half-working voice box, wish i could give it rave revues were it not for the seller, so to them thanks for nothing and i will make a point of steering clear of such an irresponsible business site. ... show more

  • really cool pedal.
still dialing it in, but best I can tell, it works great. Harmonized well with some Pink Floyd tunes we were messing with. Some sounds will be more useful than others, but I had some fun with it. I did notice it gets a little confused with suspended, 7th and 9th chords, but for jamming at some bar in town, it'll blow some minds. An unintended effect- try singing along with a guitar solo (you know, like Jimi in Crosstown Traffic)... One guy complained about the manual in a previous post- mine was used, so no manual. There's a pdf of it on the EHX site, and it's like 20 pages... ... show more

  • Slight Delay
I'm sure a lot of similar products have a delay, but the Voice box had a noticeable delay that threw me off. When you sing you hear the effects a fraction of a second later. It's very annoying.

  • I like it . The wife hates it.
I loved this device. Took a few times to find the settings I thought added to my vocals. But then my guitar started cutting in and out. Took me a bit to determine the problem was with a portion of the Voice Box. Not the guitar, cord or amp. On most settings the guitar is need to produce the most accurate vocal backups. Best part. Amazon is replacing the item free, post haste. Yea, Amazon! Who knows why my wife doesn't like it. Could be my singing. ... show more

  • This product has a 2-page manual and no web further info
I cannot judge the product as a vocal/ electronic system but for sure I can tell you that the 2-page documentation does not help much if you do not have the experience on how to connect the system to another device (at this point we were trying to connect it to a computer and we finally understood that you simply cannot do it directly). I purchased this product and after spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to operate it, I gave up 32 days after the purchase date... Gear Tree refused whatsoever to accept it back (I still wonder why since it is brand new) and I am currently working with Amazon to see what can be done. I suggest trying to buy another product with a more decent documentation so that you can read and understand how to properly connect the device or find out the limitations of it. ... show more
