UPDATE: I've just installed this around my henyard, and came back to change the 3 star review I gave to 5 stars. Yes it's thin, as I said originally, but it is Mighty! It packs an impressive punch. I've tested all strands including the sub-strands attached to original strands with a digital voltmeter, and I'm liking the results. It's tough! Utility knife did not go through it, Regular pliers-level wirecutter did not go through it. I had to bring out big guns to make a clean easy cut. (metal shears). Good and strong. It has another brilliant advantage I've never had with my other fencelines I've used: you can tie strands of it to other strands (I wrapped several times for greater conductivity) and run another strand from an existing live strand, with no loss of conductivity. I've discovered its thinness has an advantage: less surface to brush against the hardware cloth walls of the henyard. So I still am not going to use this for the horses: Part of the function of a pasture fence is psychological & visual. Horses in their high-flight state would not stop for this. For that application, I'll stick to high-visibilty white polytape. But I would just love to surprise & shock the living daylights out of that raccoon that's been finding its way into the hens. Old review: Meriane, I'm sorry I wasn't nicer to start. This is the smallest hot wire I've ever seen. I went on assumption it would be like others, and based on the pics that show livestock. The description claims 1/8" diameter. Measured with calipers, it is ~1.5mm = 1/20th of an inch. It does feel strong. It does have the 6 metal strands as described. It does come in long spools. I wouldn't feel comfortable using it as pasture fencing for livestock. Horses to keep in and elk to keep out. But it will be useful, for top-of-woven-wire-fence warning (don't lean your head over this and mash down the fence, as they have done), and around the henyard in multiple strands to deter predators. I don't have the nerve to touch it to tell you what the shock is like. I assume it’s potent, and if I have the misadventure of finding out first hand, I’ll come back and let you know. ... show more

I have one large pasture with 2 miles of fence but wanted to section it off to use one section then rotate. I got this as it's much easier to manage for such a use than it is to manage solid metal hot wire fencing. And it gives a definite jolt, that's for sure! Works as I'd have hoped and my pigs do NOT like the zap it gives! Seems as if it will hold up. We of course made sure it was tight at installation but did notice a slight sag in the line after about 2 weeks, so went out and used some fence tightener clips I got off here as well and it worked just fine :) ... show more

We needed some electric line to help keep our goats from jumping our electronet fencing. This is perfect. Plus, because it's yellow, it stands out from the other electric line on the farm, which doesn't belong to us.

    • Heavy duty polyrope
Size: 1/10" 1312 Feet/400Meters
While I haven't strung this polyrope yet, I have high expectations. It is much heavier than typical polywire, which is why it's referred to as polyrope. So the actual rope is stronger, but it only weaves in 6 strands of stainless steel for conductivity. I would have hoped for more since this is the same amount of threads that the typical polywire uses, but is half the diameter of this rope. It should still do the job though. Polywire and Polyrope is often preferred to Polytape because animals with thick fur sometimes do not receive a shock if the tape is unable to reach the skin of the target animal. This rope offers a higher tensile strength than thinner wire, but avoids that issue with tape. I'll be installing this soon, and will update if my view changes but I've used a very similar rope before with stellar results and I really don't expect anything different here. ... show more

Fence wire is pretty good and extremely durable, does indeed conduct current and I tested it by hanging my entire body weight on a single strand which is extremely impressive for such a thin wire!

This is good and strong.. 1,312 ft I do not see anything that says UV resistant, though. Yellow and black for better visibility. Must be strung with insulator caps.

This is super thin stranding. I ordered it to put around my garden to keep animals out of my garden so I'm hoping as thin as it is it will keep the rabbits and deer out. I just glad I didn't order it to keep my animals contained because I'm not sure if it would.
