The design looks OK although you can’t open the switch to clean or service the interior. I noted a small resistance of 8 ohms across one of the feed to fence contacts in the “on” position. The package does not look weather resistant but I don’t think I’d hesitate to put this under a roof or rain cover outside. I’m a big fan of grid powered fencers but some system of convenient disconnect for various loops on a central fencer seems essential to me. As we press this into service I’ll try to update this review. 4 stars and very economical to try out. How I review: Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points. - 0 for value but I try to provide guidance -0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel -0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on execution I select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings. ... show more

    • No more plugging and unplugging
The media could not be loaded. I needed to install an electric fence around our Koi pond to keep predators out, after losing 10 large koi to raccoons. I saw this RiteFENCE cut off switch and ordered it so I would not have to plug and unplug the fence energizer every time I wanted to work on or around the pond. The cut off switch is easy to use and simple to install. You can utilize it for two fence runs simultaneously . Your main power goes from the energizer to the cable connector on the bottom of the switch. You then connect the right and/ or left top connectors to your fence run(s). I only have one fence run so I just used one of the connections. There are basically four settings on the fence cutoff switch. Power to fence run 1, power to fence run 2, power to fence run 1 & 2 or off. The dial rotates counterclockwise to the off position. I connected the switch to a piece of wood using the three wood screws they provided. This fence cut off switch works perfectly and makes my life so much easier when I’m working around the pond.     • It will get the job done. Mostly plastic.
The switch moves smoothly and is easy to click between one fence or the other, or both at the same time. The plastic seems durable but I will update the review if it does not stand up to the UV light.

    • A must-have for rotational grazing with paddocks
This is a nice tool to have as it allows you to kill the power on the electric fence without a long walk to the main unit to switch it off. Since it's a 3-way switch, it can also energize the next paddock, if you wire the zone correctly. Worth the money.

Very well build and heavy duty switch, much larger than I expected. It has 3 mounting holes to attach to a post. It can be hooked up to power 2 different runs from the same power source, which isn't something I needed but may put to use in the future. The thing that keeps this from being a 5 star item: no instructions or hookup information other than what's provided in the ad. ... show more

    • Easy to install and easy to use
We recently cross-fenced our pasture and added solar electric to the new section of fence. The location of the new fence is a bit remote and so the prospect of having to walk back to the house to turn the fence on/off every time any kind of repair needs to be done was going to be a pain. Also, there was no reason to continuously charge the entire pasture when the cows are limited to one half of the field or the other made no sense. This four way switch is a great solution. It is super easy to mount and connect to the fence and it is logical and easy to use. We mounted it near the energizer so we switch the power from the west side to the east side of the field, or power both halves if needed. Also being able to turn off the power for repairs is convenient. I like that it is a simple mechanical switch and seems to be weatherproof (and fool-proof).     • Nice way to turn off or isolate a fence.
I'll start off by saying while it was easy to get setup I still would have liked instructions to come with it n that said it does it jobs and performs as it should . It has made working in my pasture easier as I can turn it off while im out in the field rather than work around and a hot wire . Over all Im happy with it. ... show more
