When we got a new refrigerator the ice maker wasn't included, and the kit that went to that model had terrible reviews. I decided to go with a countertop ice maker instead and got this one when it was on sale. So far, it works great. I waited 3 hours after unboxing to allow the oil to settle, cleaned the basket and wiped out the inside. After filling the compartment with water and turning it on, it spit out the first round of ice in around ten minutes. (I threw this first batch away just to be safe.) It was amazing to me how much ice I got for the amount of water I put in! Every couple of rounds of ice, I would empty the basket into a container in the freezer and did this until it was full. The ice did stick together some, but was pretty easy to break apart. Once it was finished, I emptied the remaining water from the ice machine (there's a plug on the bottom of the machine that you pull out to drain it into a bowl) and dried the inside. I plan on using this machine about every two days based on our current ice usage. I've seen some people saying they keep the machine going 24/7. I also see some people complaining about the machine dying in less than a year. I don't know for sure that those two things are related, but I imagine keeping it running constantly isn't the best idea. At the quick rate that it creates ice, I'm also not sure why you would do that. Keep making ice until you have the amount you need, then drain and dry it for next time. I imagine it will last far longer this way. I'll keep using it in this manner and update this review when it finally dies to let you know how long it lasted using this method. UPDATE: Well, it died. Lasted from July 2023 until December 2024, so around a year and a half. Honestly, we took really good care of it and only used filtered water, so it's a biiiiiit disappointing that it already quit working. It worked well and made a lot of ice for the year and a half it worked, so I suppose it's up to you to judge if this sounds worth it to you! I wouldn't count on it lasting longer than this, though. ... show more

So I got this ice machine for Christmas and have been loving it. Yesterday, I decided to clean it and before I could, it started making a loud noise. I thought, oh, no, it's dying. So I reached out to customer service and they gave me steps to do, which basically was a good cleaning. I did take the lid off the unit and unscrewed a cover in there where the ice comes from and used a toothbrush and some vinegar to clean around in there and did get some calcium deposits out. Then I ran a clean cycle with a little vinegar water and it is back to being quiet and making ice like a dream. Highly recommend this ice maker, but also recommend to clean it regularly. I have been using this ice maker for 8 months without any issues. It works great and really cranks out the ice. I make several batches when I turn it on and bag each batch as it finishes and put it directly in the freezer. I find doing it that way gives it less chance to melt and stick together when it goes in the freezer. When I have enough in the freezer, I make another batch to use directly from the machine. It will melt in the machine if it sits too long - the machine does not have a freeze function. I have never had a problem with leaks. I like that it lets you know when you need to add water and when the ice compartment is full and that you can pick the size of ice you want to make. It is easy to empty - just pull the bucket out, dump it, and return it to the machine. It even comes with a scoop if you need some for a glass. It is very easy to clean and it takes up a very small amount of space. I enjoy using it and am very glad that I made the purchase. I plan to buy another one this spring to use on an outdoor porch! ... show more

This ice maker is a purchase I am very happy with. It takes up very minimal space. It is a bit noisey if you want it to run in a bedroom but is perfect for the kitchen. Only negative to this is that it piles the ice in one area causing the sensor to say it's full. This can be avoided if you have time to constantly check it and shuffle the basket a little. The ice appears to melt quickly if this happens. No worries though, as the production of ice is also fast and will make more in no time at all! Tip: half spring water and half distilled water creates the perfect ice for crunching on! ... show more
