  • It's GREAT!
Style: Lawn Mower w/2-4.0Ah Batteries
This mower is fantastic! It was simple to put together and is very straight forward to operate. I am mowing 2.5 acres of rough, uneven, hilly ground that we call our yard. After my husband's passing I found I can't start either of our two recoil start mowers, including the one with the "Easy Start" logo right next to the handle for the recoil starter. It didn't take long to realize that the closest neighbor was going to get real tired of me asking him to start the thing every time I had to put more fuel in the tank! Our son has an EGO mower that he has used for several years now. He thinks a lot of his, so I didn't spend a lot of time looking at other makes and models. This model seemed to be a good fit for me. Since it came with the rapid charger and two batteries, i figured I wouldn't have a whole lot of down time waiting for a battery to recharge so I could keep mowing. Just because the weather is good right now, it doesn't mean it's going to be good in an hour or so as I waited for the battery to recharge. At least, that was the logic I was using. I watched the grass growing as I awaited the arrival of my new machine. And I worried if it was getting to be more than I should ask any mower to chew through. A lot of our grass is "thread and needle" which sends up many tough seed stalks on each clump of grass. When the mower arrived, I was thrilled by how easy it was to put together. Most of it was pre-assembled. I put one of the batteries into the charger and found both were at 75% so almost fully charged right out of the box. Adjusting the handle bar was easy and the mower deck height was even easier with it's simple one and done lever right on top of the mowing deck! Then came the moment of truth. Push in the start button and pull the bale back and presto! Starting was a breeze. I was immediately impressed with how quiet this machine runs. Yes, it does make some sound, but you could carry on a conversation if somebody wanted to walk along! Wow! What a difference! I was also impressed that mowing with this mower in mulch mode isn't as dirty a job as it is with any other mower I've used. This EGO keeps everything pretty well contained where all the chewing is taking place rather than scattering it everywhere. NICE! I started out in a section of yard that is relatively level and not as rough as a lot of what I had to cut and I found this mower to be nimble and easy to navigate. It pushes very lightly in most circumstances. I discovered that, even when you have to back up to work your way around something, it's easy to handle. A tip I'd read in the operator's manual said that if it pulls backward hard, just push it forward a little and then pull it backward. I'm no engineer, so why that works I can't say. I can attest to the fact that it does work beautifully. Backing the mower up is just as easy as going forward. Now let me tell you about it's self propelled feature. It's more than happy to assist you on the grades. Simply engage the trigger on the right and away you go! Use the lever on the left to adjust it to your walking speed. When that required me to do longer uphill climbs, I found I don't walk as fast as I do on the level, but it's easy to adjust on the move as the need arises. Most of the time I didn't use the self propulsion and that's probably because 1. this mower pushes easily and, 2. I've never had it before. I had to remind myself to let the EGO do the heavy lifting! With the dual batteries and the rapid charger I found that I had plenty of power for the job. When the red light indicated my battery was getting tired, I'd pop that one out and the charger had already put a full charge on the battery it was working on. Trade the batteries out and keep right on mowing! It's the perfect set up! I now understand why our son is so crazy about his EGO Power+ LM2102SP-A and I'm very glad I had sense enough to listen to him and get the exact same mower. It's a wonderful machine. ... show more

  • Exactly what I was expecting in an electric mower
Style: Lawn Mower w/2-4.0Ah Batteries
This mower works fantastically and I've mowed my lawn with it a few times before writing this review. I have a 1/3 acre lot for context. Pros: the cut is fantastic and very clean looking. It's even leaving my lawn looking healthier. The smaller deck means I can get into lots of nooks and crannies easier. I love how lightweight it is and it doesn't tear up my shoulder or hip (I have shoulder and hip issues). The self propel is awesome but I find I actually don't even to use it too much with how lightweight it is. In perfect conditions, each battery does get 30 minutes of cutting, even when using the self propel. Charging the battery takes less time than it takes to drain the battery so you can basically seamlessly swap. (I'm interested to see how that works as the batteries age but worst case, you could add a third battery into rotation easily.) Assembly was super easy. It's very quiet and, while I've not mowed in the dark, the light is definitely bright enough to mow in the dark. (My ears are very thankful that I don't have to blast my music to hear over my old mower.) Con: It struggles with wet grass and if your grass is wet or dewy, it will drastically kill the battery life. The one morning I tried to mow, it took me almost 3 hours instead of the max of 90 minutes I've had every other time I've mowed. If you push it until the battery fully dies, it does take longer to charge than you get off the second battery (in other words, as soon as you see a red light, stop and swap your battery-don't drain it entirely or you'll be waiting for the other battery to fully charge). All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this mower if you're in the market. ... show more

  • A New Paradigm
Style: Lawn Mower w/2-4.0Ah Batteries
We have been contributing CO2 to the atmosphere for years with our gasoline-powered lawn mowers. Shame on us. This guy is a bit expensive but WOW what a difference. It cuts better than my Honda 6hp machine. It is amazingly quiet (not silent mind you, but way quieter than gas). It is lightweight and easy to maneuver around. They give you two batteries and I can do my acre lot with those before charging. The self-propel works great. The batteries fit into other tools I have from these guys. This is good kit. ... show more

  • Lots of power
Style: Lawn Mower w/2-4.0Ah Batteries
I have a couple of hills that are getter harder to mow as I age. This self-propelled electric mower meets my needs. It came with two 4 amp batteries that each last me almost 40 minutes and are super easy to change out. The speed of this mower is adjustable and easily works for both me and my wife. The batteries charge quickly, and the charger has an automatic shut-off if you forget to disconnect the batteries. The grass height adjustment is super easy to use and very convenient. I also like the ability to tip up the mower to clean underneath and gas doesn't run out of the tank. In fact, I store my mower on end in my garage between mowing, so it doesn't take up much floor space. The mower cut is very nice and the blades seem very sharp. They also seem easy to replace when the time comes. That is the main maintenance item on this mower. It is not much lighter than my gas mower as the batteries are somewhat heavy but the self-propelled featured makes up for the weight. I like the fact you can use the self-propelled feature with the mower blades off to save energy and also if you are done mowing to get it back to the house. There are a few differences from a gas mower, but I didn't find anything annoying or problematic. I highly recommend this mower. As a side note, there are some great videos on YouTube that can give you good tips concerning backing up and other things that differ from a gas mower. ... show more
