This is a great chainsaw. Period. I really don't have to say much more, but I will. Here are the pro's. 1. Built well 2. Lightweight 3. Powerful enough for most work 4. Great battery life (much more than I expected..I cut heavy honeysuckle scrub up to about 4-6" diameter for about 4-5 hours until the ONE battery gave up the ghost.) 5. Fast battery charging. Easy to see / understand batter charge LED. 6. Battery holds charge a long time when not in use. 7. Safety hand guard works well as a secondary lockout. 8. Good lubrication oil filler 9. Chain tension adjustment really easy. 10. No "pull to start" arm whiplash. Just pull the trigger....and cut. 11. It's QUIET! 12. You won't need to drain the gas, etc. for longer storage. Cons.... 1. Chain stretches when new. Simple. It happens with all chainsaws, and in this case, it's far easier to adjust the tension than many other saws. (This really isn't about this saw, but ALL chainsaws in general.) 2. Maybe not powerful as gas....but that's ok for most uses around the home. 3. Batteries will run out of juice and need to be recharged. Gas saws...just fill it up. Not so easy for battery if you don't have the time or a plug for the charger. (Maybe get 2 or more batteries....) 4. It doesn't have the Vrooooooom of a typical gas chainsaw...if you are into that sort of thing. Overall...if you are not a lumberjack, just a "do it yourself" homeowner that needs to cut stuff periodically, this is the way to go. This EGO powered chain saw is great. In my many years I have used electric, gas powered, and other battery powered chain saws and some were okay and some were not okay. This EGO product is a really excellent chain saw. Cuts smooth right through anything I have cut up to this point. You surely have bought something and was surprised that is was really good and beat your expectations. This is the case for me with this chain saw. I used an Echo 14inch gas saw for 40 years so when it finally gave it up last year I needed to replace it. I've read a lot about battery-operated vs gas and for my needs (an acre with surrounding forest where I do modest trimming and some tree felling) a battery-operated version seemed fine. More research led me to this EGO. I wanted the 5amp battery for more power and longer cutting. I haven't had a chance to seriously test battery life, but I have used the saw enough to really, really like it. On power, yes, it might have less power than a gas saw, but for my needs this has plenty of power. I love the significantly lower noise, that it shuts off whenever you’re not cutting, that you don’t have to keep gas around, mix and add it. Basically, I like everything about a battery-power saw, and this EGO seems like a winner. It’s hard to argue with 80% 5-star ratings and only 4% 1-star (of over 450 ratings). The owner’s manual says to operate at full speed, probably because this helps prevent kickback, but electric motors operate a full torque at even low RPMs. So, where you used to rev the gas engine to full rotational rate (and, hence full power) before you start the cut, you don’t need to do that with an electric. You can wait to go full-on until the saw has touched the wood. This seems to me much safer. For all you hard-line, battery-powered can't measure up to gas die-hards out there, just do it. Unless you need to cut down a forest, you won't regret going green. Just pick a saw with plenty of battery power, like the 5amp version of this EGO. An all around great switch to battery-operated and an excellent choice in EGO. ... show more

So I've had this for a while now and absolutely love it. Works great and uses the same batteries as all the other EGO tools. The main issue is the leaking bar oil. This thing leaks like a sieve.... You MUST store it on something or you'll end up with a big mess in a little amount of time. The best solution I've found is to store it with the blade pointing straight up. Not a convenient way to store it by any means but limits the mess so I deal with it. Would be perfect if not for the leaking bar oil problem. ... show more

I’m happy. A tree fell in my yard. Trunk has a 16”diameter. Cherry tree it cuts like butter. I made 10 cuts and only used have of my battery life no tool needed. Great for home. Plenty of power.

Ego and their tools are great. I'm extremely pleased with my Ego battery-powered products - 16" chain saw, 580 CFM blower and LM2100 21" mower. The chain saw is great, much better than my old (different manufacturer) electric model. It's easy and quick to use and clean. During clean up after a recent storm my neighbor apologized for not using his gas saw which took too much effort to prepare and clean. The blower is a beast, it can be a little heavy but that's a small price to pay for instant and powerful cleaning after mowing and in the Fall. The mower is great too - again, immediately ready to mow and has a very small footprint in my busy garage when stowed on end. I upgraded the fan and blades recently and it's even better on my Virginia lawn. The batteries are great too. I have three and by keeping them charged I never run out of power. Originally I received an older model BA2800 5Ah model battery with my chain saw which often stopped and the battery needed reseating in whichever tool I used it in. My experience with their customer service is outstanding. I had to be patient when on the phone as it took a while to share all the details but they replaced my older model BA2800 battery with the newer BA2800T. Touch wood, I've had no problems with any of the BA2800T's of which I now have three. Ego and their tools are great. I highly recommend them. ... show more
