  • Go solar!!
Style: DELTA 2 Max+2*220W Solar Panel
My order arrived in great shape. At first, I was concerned because the panels showed up first and Amazon marked my whole order as delivered. I contacted customer service (which was prompt in addressing my concerns) and was told not to worry. It arrived 2 days later in n great shape. It was not packaged in an Amazon box. It came in the original box which tells you what it is so if you need privacy from nosy neighbors, I would recommend requesting additional packaging. I am VERY pleased with my purchase! After surviving Hurricane Helene, I realized that in a bad situation, gas for my regular generator would not always be available and without gas, it was useless. I researched many solar generators and found this one to be the best fit for my home and situation. The panels are easy to set up. The generator is solid and a bit heavy but I had no problems carrying it. I am an older, disabled woman with a healing broken hand. The generator comes with multiple ways to charge and has ports to charge cell phones. I feel very confident that this unit will suit my purposes in the event of another storm or regular power outage. I live in an area where I get unobstructed sun on most days so solar is an excellent option for me. With the price of groceries, I spent as much on this unit as I did replacing all my lost refrigerated and frozen foods. Another savings point is the price of gas to keep gas generators running and trips to the gas station. Solar solves that issue! This unit alone will not charge your whole home but it will keep your lights on, your refrigerator running and charge your phones in a power outage. I’m considering purchasing another battery to be able to charge more appliances at a later date. For me, this purchase is well worth the money and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to gas generators. ... show more

  • Blackout Buster
Style: DELTA 2 Max 2048Wh
For a long time now, I've wanted a small generator to keep critical appliances up and running during power outages. Critical defined as: Refrigerator, sump pump, furnace blower (heat only), modem/wifi, TV, couple of lights, and personal electronics. So with this in mind, I purchased a Honda inverter generator a couple of years ago. The 2000W rating is enough for my needs as the major loads are intermittent. However, small gas generators have one glaring drawback. These become thief bait when not being monitored at night or when you're not home. So I decided a solar/battery generator would solve this problem. Put simply. Run the EcoFlow at night. Charge it with the gas generator during the day. With that in mind, my needs are a minimum 2000W output, runtime of 6 hrs with intermittent loads, pure sine wave output, and ability to charge from a less than 800W. I've decided to forgo the pros & cons and should you buy format of typical reviews. There's plenty of videos and written reviews if that's your jam. Instead I'll highlight the features that meet my needs and requirements. First this unit features 2048Wh array of Lithium batteries. This means (in theory) a 2000W load could be run for 1hr from this unit... Or a 100W load could be run for 20hrs... The real world physics and inefficiencies in DC-AC conversion make this impossible, but that's what Watt-hour rating refer to. But this will meet my need for an average 200W per hour load to run for at least 6hrs even with my battery limits set. (More on that below.) Output is 2.4kW with an optional boost of up to 3.4kW... check... I didnt bother testing up to these loads but theres litterally dozens of videos where peolple load their EF Deltas up with space heaters and hair dryers. But I have only seen one where somone reported the pure sine output... So I wanted to the investigate that one. One of the photos attached illustrates the output under a small load (25W) powering an LED TV veiwed though a Fluke 125B oscilloscope. This is an non-liear load so it could effect power factor and could be effected by modified sine output. But as the photo illistrates the waveform is a healthy pure sine wave, so no issues... I did monitor the load with a Fluke 289 checking voltage/frequency fluctuations and power factor issues. No issues to report. Let's talk about the phone app as seen though the second image. The app provides tons of telemetry on the unit. It's simple enough that non-electrical engineers can understand the important bits but allows for a lot of user configuration and connectivity. This unit connects to the internet via WiFi and pulls firmware updates. These allow the generator to be tweeked to improve efficiency and runtime. I'd like to highlight two screens in the app in particular. FIRST SCREEN) The AC input configuration. On the back of the generator (next to the C14 AC input) is a physical switch. First position is full speed charging. This allows the unit to be charged at up to 1800W. O.O OH my... that's a lot! 1800W is nearly twice what a microwave pulls. And like a microwave, if you choose to charge using the full speed charging you should do this on circuit where ONLY the EF is plugged in. Otherwise you will almost certainly trip a breaker. And NEVER charge at that rate through powers trips of extension cords. Most consumer cords/surge protectors just are not made for that much constant load. In fact I will only be using the full speed charging in a pinch... As in, I drive to the in-law's house to charge as quickly as possible. But frankly speaking, charging that quickly probably isn't great for the batteries. Just like cell phone, the quicker the charger charges the battery, the more heat needs dissipated. So option 2 is custom (or user specified) charge rate. In the app this is configurable from 200W to 1800W. Initially I set mine to 400W but have since set it to 300W. At that rate, it can charge from 20% to 80% in less than 6hrs. Charging slower does three things... Improves overall battery health by not generting as much heat, improves charging efficiency by not stressing the batteries or the charger, and leaves headroom for my usecase of charging from a 1800W Honda Gen. SECOND SCREEN) Battery charge-diacharge limits. The user can set min and max charge limits. Lithium batteries can be discharged much lower than lead-acid but my comfort limit is 30% and the hard floor in my opinion is 20%. Any lower any the batteries become damaged overtime. The same is true for the upper limit of Lithium batteries. 80% is a good safe limit. It's no accident that high speed charging time ratings are listed from 0 to 80%. Above 80% and the charger has to "pump" the current into the battery. Sort of like the last few strokes of a bicycle air pump. It becomes more difficult. Continually charging Lithium batteries to 100% will have a deleterious effect overtime. IMO, 80% is the maximum that the unit should be stored at. After removing from storage you can top it off if you want. For my use, I'll leave my setting as 20% min discharge and 80% max charge. If the outtage goes longer than one night I'll set the max to 100%. Overall I feel like the EcoFlow could've been my brainchild for a good as it fits my needs. But honestly I don't feel like my usecase is unique so that's the reason for this review. The Delta 2 Max is a good buy. Other than light fan noise, it's virtually silent. It's safe to use indoors, expandable, and a best friend to anyone lays awake at night worried about their sump pump or refrigerator. Couple of PSAs: I'm not getting into the floating neutral discussion. But if you plan on hooking this to a gas furnace, make sure you use something like an EZ-Gen or a small transfer switch that grounds the generstor. And use the supplied AC C13 cord. Don't use thinner gauge PC (C13) cords or extension cords as these can overheat, melt, or worse. ... show more
