  • Fun for kids and adults!
Style: Microscope
What a fun way to get out explore with your kids. While on an expedition looking for samples to check under the microscope, we got swarmed by thousands (literally) of tiny bugs. We didn't know if they were mites or spiders so we scraped a few off and put them under the microscope. As a result, we were able to figure out they were ticks in the nymph stage! I was even able to put my iPhone up to the microscope and get a picture. Sick! We have also looked at spider eyes up close, cricket legs, plants, the list is endless! So much fun and great price! ... show more

  • It's only a toy
Style: Microscope
A microscope is just a toy of cheap plastic. It has nothing to do with a normal microscope. Please do not waste your money, buy your child a normal microscope made of metal and with glass lenses. In this microscope, the lenses are plastic, nothing is visible in them. My daughter is 8 years old, she was very upset. She really wanted to explore plants and insects, but it's impossible to use. In the lens is very poorly visible. I do not advise buying this. Waste of money. ... show more

  • Great starter/introductory set.
Style: Microscope
Can't say enough about this brand and concept. Love it. Comes with an educational journal and gives you something to go on and just the right amount of information and knowledge to go on to continue on after and do yor own experiments. I chose this kit alone for the workbook because most microscopes don't give any kind of books or journals to go off of. Love the entire kit. Bought it for my 5 yr old and she is really into it. We are having fun learning together. It's just enough learning to not be too boring and also give a nice foundation and taste of what it's like to get into the lab part of science. Oh I was leary about the microscopen but it works! I'm impressed and also don't feel like I broke the bank. I have twin3 yr old boys and they are pretty rough so if they get ahold of it accidently or somehow it breaks, I won't be so upset because the price is just right. The image is of peacock feather with the back light. It's brighter in person than through my camera phone.. the white washed out the feather a bit in my camera. ... show more

  • Doesn't work at higher than 30x.
Style: Microscope
I bought this for my daughter to encourage her interest in science. The microscope is such poor quality that it is completely blurry at the highest magnification (400x) and less than average at 100x. The 30x is ok, but you might as well just buy a magnifying glass if that's all you want. I have adjusted the focus correctly in each case- I have an Applied Science Degree so I know how to do this. I am so disappointed in this product. If anything it has turned my daughter off science as now she feels frustrated and disappointed about trying to take a closer look at the world. The only positive I would have is the Activity Journal is very well thought out- a shame you can't actually do any of the activities with the microscope supplied. ... show more

  • Meh...it's just OK...
Style: Microscope
This is a handy little microscope for beginners. On a side note, it would be nice if they offered in other colors rather than purple and teal green, but that's not the point. It has 2 lights with which to view slides and 3 magnification levels. I've found that the only really useful magnification level is the 30x. The light really isn't bright enough on the microscope to support much stronger magnifications. But, that is just my opinion. It comes with a handy little book with projects to make your own slides also. All in all, if I had to purchase again, I am not sure if I would. I would probably research a bit more and find one with a brighter viewing light for the slides. But, this was a good one to start with. ... show more

  • Great set to get kids interested in science!
Style: Microscope
Insight's Nancy B's Science Club® Microscope and Activity Journal is an absolutely wonderful product for kids! The microscope is of great quality and I love that it has a light both on top and on bottom. It works perfectly and does 30x, 100x, and 400x magnifications which is perfect for viewing even the tiniest of things. I also love that it comes with a few sample slides so you can begin using the microscope right out of the box. You can also use the blank slides to create your own slides which my son just loves to do. My son is finding new things to view every day and is really excited to use the activity journal to document everything. Nancy B's Science Club® Microscope and Activity Journal is just a great set to get your kids interested in science. I highly recommend it! It comes with everything you need to get started and it keeps your kids engaged for a long time to come! ... show more

  • Great for the price
Style: Microscope
This was a cool gift for my science loving 8 year old daughter. My 3 yo also enjoyed looking once my 8yo adjusted each slide first. The other slides and pieces that come with the microscope have kept her busy and she still pulls this out several weeks later to look at things as she finds them. As an adult that has seen through an actual microscope, the quality is of course no where near as nice and resolution/focus is not that great... but at the price point it is as good as I would expect. Please note that not all settings will adjust clearly, but does offer a close (albeit slightly out of focus) view. ... show more

  • Magnify your child's life!
Style: Microscope
Had to try this Educational Insights Nancy B's science club microscope before giving it to my 7 year old. Totally cool. It comes with all the tools you need to become a little scientist. It also has an activity journal and 4 pre-setup slides with fun things to view like a peacock feather and goldfish scale. It's got 3 different magnifications and is really simple to setup and use. She is going to love it! ... show more
