  • Makes iRobot look like 1980s Tech! This is an awesome robot!
Size: X1 OMNI
I have been a loyal customer of high end iRobot products for 10 years and with this purchase, that has changed. I was currently using the pair of iRobot i7+ and iRobot Braava jet m6 on a cleaning schedule to keep the house clean for the past 2 years. Prior to these models I owned the 900 series vacuum robot. Now that you have some history, let me say I have NEVER been impressed with iRobot. With every new iRobot model they make claims of Intelligence, superior mapping and cutting edge learning capabilities.....well all BS! My iRobots got stuck all the time! Put bluntly, the i7+ is STUPID! Not only did it regularly get stuck under furniture it obviously didn't fit under, it also couldn't navigate simple throw rugs and would get stuck on those as well. Another favorite place to get stuck, under kitchen cabinet overhangs. This happened in multiple homes, so nothing special about the furniture or cabinets. Also, the claim they learn where they get and avoid, or note this on their maps is total BS. This stupid robot would get stuck in the exact same place over and over and over. So, as far as AI goes....it has NONE! It also gets lost and can't find its way home often even when nothing in the home has changed. It also loved to ram into everything full speed leaving dirt marks on all my furniture and base moldings. As I said, STUPID LOL. Now to the M6 mopper bashing. Equally as stupid, the mopper gets stuck on its own dock and throws an error, so instead of it mopping your floor after the vacuum has returned (if it returns) you find it stuck with a red ring. I found this was due to the wheel tread becoming worn (from tile?) and no longer having enough tread to get off the plastic parking pad. Also, this robot has the same navigation as the i7+, so just as stupid and also gets stuck on everything and lost. It also love to headbutt everything just like the i7+. Price for the iRobot pair was $1350 at time of purchase with a bundle deal. Not worth it at all! Lastly on the iRobot side, customer service is a Joke. They offer in app trouble shooting and customer service contact options, which I never got a single reply from them while having these issues. Even when trying to replace the worn tires on the M6, the part was out of stock every time I tried to purchase. iRobot might have been all the rave 10 years ago, but clearly they have gotten lazy and have not advanced with technology. They are now over priced junk. Do your self a favor and try Deebot! So finally to the Deebot....well, its fantastic! Mops and vacuums with one machine and truly is home automation. It cleans better then the iRobot hands down and is also half as loud doing it. It also NEVER hits objects. I only saw it touch a piece of furniture once and it was a love tap so soft I wasn't sure it even made contact. It cleans itself (Vacuum and Mopping brushes) and auto fills is own water tank (M6 does none of this). It also has dual mapping capability so measures by laser and camera. It mapped my entire house in a single pass and that took 20 minutes. You can also watch its travels via the live active map or through its camera. As a reference, the iRobot i7+ took 3 mapping runs of 6-10 hours each to map the house. My house is a single story, open floor plan and 80% tile. The ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 is a fantastic machine. I would give it 5 stars, but the separation of rooms function in the mobile app could use some work. The robot does what's its supposed to and is quiet, highly advanced and dependable, but the mapping options to set-up dividing of spaces and naming those spaces could use further development. iRobot does have a better app, but since the robots themselves are stupid as a newborn, it doesn't matter LOL. If the Deebot had better room separation, naming and customization features (as found in the iRobot app) this device would be an absolute all star!! So is it worth $1500??? Hell yes! Its a fantastic technological wonder. I love my Yiko! ...."I'm here" LOL ... show more

  • Best Robot Vacuum I have tried
Size: X1 OMNI
Before this, I had the Roomba's newest vacuum but after warranty claim twice I opted out of fixing it and bought the X1. I love this darn thing. My two major complaints is that when the mopping pads are on it will not go over my rugs to vacuum and the cleaning sink is always full which pauses the cleaning until corrected. I have 3 dogs that we walk every morning on the beach so they get covered in sand... obviously my floor is also covered in sand and dog hair. I try to sweep every morning before it runs to help but it doesn't always do much. The cleaning sink is really my biggest frustration.... the little cleaning brush they give you does not do much. I take my little carpet cleaning spot vacuum and vacuum out the cleaning sink completely. This is the best thing to do but it is still annoying to have to do. Other then that really I love this thing. I have it sweep & mop the whole house, every single day. It rarely gets caught on something and avoids cords quite well. ... show more

  • MUCH better than I thought with a few minor issues.
Size: T8
Tried to do research on vacuum/mop robots but they're mostly tied in categories. So I picked my criteria of good mapping, good obstacle management, and good mopping. That narrowed it down to just two for me and I just picked the T8. I chose not to get the T8 AIVI with the camera as I don't care to have a photographic map of my house available. It's bad enough there's a digital map but if you want mapping vs random, you have to allow it. So this little machine completely exceeded my expectations. First with the mapping. It mapped our whole 3000 foot house very precisely (less one room we blocked off) and managed to shockingly vacuum the entire house on one charge the first time. Our house is all hardwood tile with rugs. It crawls right onto the rugs, turns up the vacuum, and then back down to the hard floor and turns down the vacuum. The second time it ran out of juice before it was finished and I had to carry it back. Since then there was a firmware upgrade and it usually finishes the whole house and gets back to it's charging station on one charge. Once it wasn't quite done and it announced it was heading back to charge. Impressive. Mopping was trial and error. It remapped the house for mopping, carefully avoiding any rugs. The problem is some of the rugs don't leave enough hard floor for the robot to get through so it avoids those areas. I flipped up the corners of the rugs to give it room to pass and it works fine . Remember, it's not really "mopping", it's dragging a wet pad along the floor. The pad coverage was OK, but I decided to run up the water to max and it's much better. Pad wet trail behind the T8 is still about 75% the width of the pad. I keep an eye on it, and when the water tank gets low, I pause the robot, refill the tank, clean the pad, and let it keep going. This vastly improved performance. I haven't used the app to tell it to re-do specific areas yet, but I will experiment with that in the future. I may consider purchasing the shaker mop, but for the time being, I vacuum one day, mop the next, then one day off, so the floors are actually staying pretty clean. The T8 works its away around all our chair legs very nicely, and it only got stuck once, behind a curtain. I'm not sure why it didn't avoid the curtain, but this is very good performance in my opinion. We have a small dog and I read that if your dog has an pooping accident, robots won't stop and go around, instead smearing the accident as it goes. So we ran a test with a small Baby Ruth bar (hat's off to Caddyshack) and the T8 ran into it and kept going. Bad news if your "accident" is real. Perhaps the AIVI version with the camera and AI would recognize it and go around, but I just don't want a camera. All in all I'm pretty impressed. I vacuumed the house before we let it run loose the first time and the bin still filled completely up (the T8 runs under our beds!). When we ran it the second day it filled up again so I assume it got so full the first day it couldn't take any more debris. Now I pause and check it after an hour. It vacuums as it mops too and it's still picking up residual dust and hair. I won't be getting the tower that cleans the bin. I think it's too tall and I'm placing the T8 under a shelving unit to keep it out of the way when it's not in use. If I feel the mopping isn't working well with the high water setting and moping every third day, I'll consider the shaker. But I gotta say, I'm amazed at how well this worked out. ... show more
