After seemingly MONTHS of research and watching the prices of ebikes, I 'landed' on Ecotric! And I'm glad I did! I had some criteria going in: bike had to have a robust battery/motor e.g. 48v 12ah and at least 500w motor; a reasonable warranty period and little to no shipping cost. With the Ecotric Cheetah Fat20, I got all I wanted and a few pluses: the company is in Oakland CA (I'm in Santa Barbara) and the tech/service people proved to be top notch. Another plus: bike is fold-able which is always good in case the bike 'dies' while out and about and you need to get home using alternative transport! As to cost: at 699.00 w/free shipping and a 1 year warranty plus all my wants as to performance this was an easy choice to make. So I ordered on like the 16th and received it about 1 week later. Now....All I gotta do is put it together! So I am not a mechanic but I have 'house tools' and basic abilities: 'righty tighty, lefty loosie.' LOL. De-boxing was easy, removing all the packing stuff...easy. Building was kinda easy but I did have some issues with annoyingly minor stuff: Seat just would not go into the seat post...Solution: Vaseline. Getting one side of the LCD display screwed down...Solution: Use my 'house tool' socket set to get better leverage and power. Front fender aligned just right so as to not rub the tire...Solution: Patience plus trial and error. OK done and done! Charge the Battery...took about 4 hours...and off we go. First impression: very capable PAS and the power throttle is great...bike is fast (still 20mph) and shifting was somewhat easy but had issues...more on that later. All in all very good first ride. However, there were some problems and did require a visit to my local bike shop to fix. But the folks at Ecotric were very helpful and even paid the 'repair' bill as partial refund to my credit card account. So Problems: Shifter and Derailleur were 'out of sync' meaning shifter says I'm on 5th gear, chain says I'm on 4th. I was never able to get 7th gear then because of this. Turns out that I did need to have a local tech adjust the derailleur. Also, the derailleur 'hanger' was bent causing the chain to rub a bit and prevent the chain from moving. Tech says this is common with shipped ebikes as the 'hanger' gets crushed and bent even though there is a 'cage' around the derailleur. All fixable...and again, Ecotric PAID the shop bill. How cool is that! I will recommend this bike to anyone that wants/needs an ebike and is on a budget. Great eBike at a great price point and super good company to deal with. Ride ON!! ... show more

Hello I am not very experienced with bikes at all, let alone e-bikes. However as my vehicle was recently impounded and I could not afford to get it out after 30 days I was forced to order something substantial to get me to work. We have many goat heads in my area and I like to cut through fields to avoid traffic. I'm tired of replacing flats so I ordered this fat tire bike they could power me through fields and up the hill I needed to do to get home. Let's start with the complaints, which could entirely due to my inexperience: the brakes keep squealing. I tried sanding them replacing the brake pads, and even taking them to a shop, but must admit I don't know much about them. My brakes seem to squeal no matter what I do. But they do grab for a bit. Maybe I just need to replace them every month, but they always seem to squeak within a day no matter what I do. But the pros now: I had a major impact into a solid object a few weeks ago that bent the handlebars aside even though they were very well tightened and distorted my bike rack and some accessories. However the tires wheels and everything else on this bike were built like a tank and nothing on the actual bicycle needed adjustment. Secondly I was in another accident where I fell off the back of the bicycle which was my own fault and needed to be transported by ambulance to the emergency room. There would have been no way for my bicycle to have been transported with me had it not been a folding bicycle that could have fit on the ambulance with me and I would have lost my bike. This bike is very portable, and fits in my husband's Toyota Corolla which is the only vehicle that we own and the reason I bought this folding bicycle! They were able to fit it on the ambulance and store it in the security office at the hospital I was transported to. So my point is the whole reason I bought this bike is in case I had a situation like this where either I couldn't ride it and my husband could come pick me up or I had an emergency and needed it transported with me. All I'm saying is it fit my purpose it's my only form of transportation, it's portable for an emergency, and it's very durable. I just had a hundred miles on it and can update about reliability. Other than that I would have last lost this bicycle when I had my accident and needed transportation to the hospital ... show more

This bike has exceeded all of my expectations, except for two things, which is where the 4 stars comes from which I will outline below.. Upon initial assembly, the star nut in the neck of the frame that joins the handlebar to the front fork, was nearly paper thin and bent like paper would when tightening it up, so I replaced that immediately and it's been perfect ever since. The second issue is with the waterproofing of the electronics, more specifically the controller in the bottom compartment under the pedal assembly. After only two months and after getting caught in a light rain for about 5 miles, I found that my speed controller was soaking wet and kaput. I am currently talking with the seller and will update this review after all is said and done, and will give it it's deserved 5 stars if all goes well, because other than these two things, this bike is truly an amazing buy. Oh yeah, It took a few days to get used to turning with these fat tires too, lol. EDIT and UPDATE: I have nothing to do with this company and am not getting paid or anything just FYI. Anyway, dealing with Ecotric was a breeze and they sent me a new controller with zero hassle at all, just info aiding the further waterproofing of it. I can't say enough about the bike, and the company really, they're fantastic. If I had to gripe about something, if I was forced to, I would say it'd be nice to have suspension/shocks, but with the giant tires, you can just let out some air so they're extra bouncy, and while it's not true suspension, it's absolutely sufficient! 😁 ... show more
