So I order six of these nice green buckets that I'm going to use for mosquito larvae traps (in combination with mosquito dunk. look it up), and I specifically order these instead of the ones from 'Big Orange' store because of the nice green color that won't stand out in my yard. And then they put these big annoying white warning stickers on the side telling you that a baby can drown in the bucket (yes, and if you smack the bucket on the baby's head, it won't be good either) and they're IMPOSSIBLE to remove. Nicely done guys. Well-thought through! Other than that, the buckets seem all right. They seem standard size because the hydroponic lids I ordered fit these and a big orange bucket exactly. These are a great deal.Arrived quickly. They are not a thick plastic so you would not want to put anything heavy in it.

    • Thinner/lighter than orange "homer" bucket
First time I saw these on Amazon. Bought two 3-packs. I have purchased more than a few 5 gal buckets and lids for long term storage, in many varieties. My comparison of this bucket with a standard orange Home Depot "homer” bucket (manufactured in the US by Leaktite) is below: 1. I received 3 of 3 ordered, 5 gal. United Solutions buckets (green). No lids included. 2. This bucket is 1.53 lbs and the sidewall flexes a bit more than a "homer" bucket which weighs 1.75 lbs. No wall thickness “mils” listed for this bucket. “homer” is .070 mils, white food grade bucket is usually .090 mils. 3. Can stack these slightly tapered wall buckets in a "homer" but a "homer won't fully fit in these. $7.66/bucket for this 3-pack, $10/bucket for "homer" 6-pack recently bought on Amazon. 4. Could not get aftermarket "gamma seal" type screw-on lid rings to seat on this bucket using a 4 lb mallet (they seal every time on “homers”), but managed to get standard hammer-on/pry-off lids to seat properly. Leaktite snap-on lids also fit this bucket with no tools required, but had a tiny bit more play in them than a snap-on lid on a “homer”. I would not use a snap-on lid with this bucket for liquid/heavy material handling. 5. No food grade markings, I do not consider them suitable for direct bulk food storage (rice, beans, dog food, etc.) or for potable water. I expect them to be fine for long term storage of vacuum or hermetically sealed foods, meds, sanitary supplies, etc. Less new-bucket chemical stink than some "homers" I've bought. Good value for hauling dirt, sand, mulch, tools, etc. 6. I like that they are US made of recycled materials. The finish is a bit “slicker” than a “homer”. They un-nest easily but I have yet to evaluate their ease of cleanup with paint. Also, no mention of UV protection. I expect them to fade and become brittle when left in the sun for several years like “homer” buckets. 7. The bottom of the buckets I received are stamped “UNITED SOLUTIONS”, “U.S. 5 GAL.”, “MADE IN USA” and have a manufactured date stamp of “8-21”. That’s my “bucket list”. Hint: always drop silica desiccant bags in any sealed bucket (non-liquids only) to absorb moisture in the event of an improper seal. Add oxygen absorber packs if stored items are prone to long term oxidation. Cheap insurance, no matter what type of bucket or lid you use. ... show more

    • Sturdy and useful.
These buckets are sturdy and well priced. I've used this size of bucket for years for yard work, house repairs and storage. They eventually wear out and need replacement.

Using these as container pots for vegetables. My sweet peppers are thriving. The radishes and onions do well. My tomatoes, I had to transplant my tomatoes. But all is great.
