I have used this bag as a personal item for two trips - one international, one domestic. The capacity is great. Lots of pockets and cinch straps on the side to made smaller if only partially filled. Since it opens like a book, it is very easy tp pack. Separate laptop area, separate phone pocket, hidden holder for an Apple Tag. Very reasonably priced. Nice and light. The fabric would likely withstand some rain but I bought a small backpack cover which I also recommend if you are going to be in a wet or snowy area. Built in a way that keeps it lightweight in spite of its many features. But if it started wearing down, I would buy again! ... show more

There are almost too many pockets to keep track of! This back pack is well made. It fits under the seats of new and old airplanes. I was able to carry the quart liquids bag, my iPad (cords and head phones), jacket, vest, and small purse in the bag with room for miscellaneous items taken or purchased. The pack has side clips top and bottom to tighten the width of the pack. My 32oz water bottle fit easily into the side pocket. There is an elastic band and clip to keep your clothes from shifting in the main compartment.when opened. There is a back strap that fits over the handle of my rolling suitcase, allowing for easy handling. One improvement would be an rfid lined pocket. ... show more

    • Good carry-on backpack if a bit on the smaller side.
This arrived just in time for my holiday, which was much appreciated. There are numerous pockets on this bag, which is great but due to the fact that it errs on the smaller side, you can't really overpack - the front pockets lose what little space that have when the main compartment gets too full and you risk stretching the zipper and stitching. The laptop compartment shares a somewhat similar issue - despite having two mesh pockets for the laptop's charger and other gadgets, it becomes quite the tight fit when you put your laptop in. My 14.4" Lenovo laptop went in fine - fit like a glove - but it was a bit of a tight squeeze to get the charger in as well and I was a tad worried how much it pressed against my laptop. Aside from that, the bag carries well - it fits nice and snug over my shoulders and back and the weight is distributed evenly. It seems sturdy and durable too as I actually checked it in as checked luggage and it came out just fine. In sum, if you don't overpack, it's an excellent bag alternative to rolled carry-on. Again, it is on the smaller side so it might look a big comical on a taller person. I'm only 5" so it was a good size against my back but I think it may be an ill fit for taller people. ... show more

Was looking for a personal item backpack when travelling to Europe. The airline reqt is 16"x"12"6" and this backpack fits that although the width could expand to 7.8" instead of 6". It only weighs 1.25 lbs too. It has side straps so that you can compress the width should you need to to fit the 6" reqt. SBS zippers appear to zip smoothly. One of the key features I liked about this backpack is that it's a clamshell style vs loading everything for the top. That makes it easier to pack like a small piece of luggage. The shoulder straps are lightly padded enough given the size of the backpack. It has carry handles on both the top & side as well as a luggage strap to go over extendable handle of a carry-on piece of luggage. It has several outside pockets (front & back) for paperwork, phone, battery charger, tablet and side pocket for water bottle. The interior is more luggage like with a clothing retention strap & mesh pocket area. Think of this more as a small piece of luggage that looks & functions like a backpack. All that & it's made with recycled plastic (50%). Very happy with this choice & perfect for personal item carry-on as well as a day pack when at your destination. ... show more

I bought this backpack to use as a personal item when traveling. I fly mostly through United and they have the smallest size for a personal item bag. There are plenty of similar styles out there but none is as small and as reasonably priced as this. It seems sturdy and roomy. It has plenty of useful compartments. It's really cute! When it's expanded and filled, it looks like a mini luggage. I like that the main compartment fully opens like a luggage, making it easy to pack. I do wish the shoulder straps can be hidden when not in use. I usually travel with a large luggage that I check in and a carry on luggage (both free of charge). SO HAPPY with this backpack and color!! It is exactly as pictured and described. I was looking for a personal sized backpack that has 180° opening like a suitcase. This is exactly what I was looking for and the packing area is deep. So much better than my other 90° opening backpack.
