  • Quality batteries, all with even higher capacity than the 2800mAh advertised!
Size: 16 AA
Battery sellers often label their batteries with a higher capacity than they actually do, but I tested these and they actually have even higher capacity than what was advertised. Some generic rechargeable batteries that were included with a flashlight I bought had less than 1/2 the advertised mAh capacity. I knew Eneloops were good, but I didn't want to pay that much (~$3 per battery) and so I took a chance on EBL since they had good reviews and were much cheaper. These came out to about $1.50 each per AA battery (16 batteries for $24). I was hoping that the actual capacity would be close to the advertised 2800mAh, but I was surprised when I found that all the batteries had actual capacities OVER the 2800mAh. EBL is a brand that has earned my trust. ... show more

  • 617 mAh initial charge capacity and around 2500-2600 after cycling not 2800 mAh as claimed
Size: 16 AA
First the batteries were shipped without padding so when they arrived the plastic storage cases to store the charged batteries in when not in use were all cracked and unusable. The first 4 of the 16 I bought were not anywhere close to the advertised capacity of 2800 mAh after initial charging. Second batch of 4 had similar results. They measured after a full charge: 511 526 542 617 This was after being on a brand new charger for 24 hours. After a full discharge recharge cycle the capacities improved to: 2521 2514 2531 2513 Still did not reach the specification of 2800 mAh. Voltage topped out at 1.41 V. Took just over 11 hours for the discharge and recharge cycle at 500 mAh. After a 3rd discharge and recharge cycle more improvement on 3 of the 4 batteries and but still not to manufacturer specs. One battery the capacity actual got worse. MAh as follows: 1606 2615 2663 2621 Started charging another 4 of the 16 batteries and discovered one is bad. Only reaches 311 mAH and reads high internal resistance. Conclusion: unless your battery charger can run discharge/charge cycles to break these batteries in you are not going to get full capacity out of them. You need to run 3 full cycles at around 11 hours each. That's a lot of time to break in 16 batteries. Moreover you will probably get at least one bad battery that will have high internal resistance and have a low capacity. Basically a throw away. I have to take away a star because these batteries do not meet their capacity ratings and must be broken in with 3 disharge/charge cycles to get close to advertised capacities. Another star off due to poor quality control for shipping at least one bad battery. One final star off because they were shipped without any padding in the box and all the storage cases were damaged and Amazon could not replace just the cases without shipping all new batteries too and putting me through the trouble of having to do a return after I already spent days charging the batteries. In other words I only got batteries and no storage cases. Update:. After a lot of grief Amazon credited me for the batteries and broken cases and allowed me to keep them and not have to go through the trouble of a return process. I feel it was the least they could do considering I do nearly 80% of my purchases on Amazon. Increased the rating by one star for Amazon coming through in the end in this regard. ... show more

  • Ugh
Size: 16 AA
In the modern house hold you have remote controls. Lots of them. And they use batteries. Lots of them. So you can either burn through lots of money buying batteries every month, or you can buy rechargeable batteries. These batteries work. Haven't had one fail yet. My next move is to buy a solar panel to charge all of my rechargeable batteries with, instead of using utility power and spending all of that money on the monthly power bill. I'm beginning to hate remote controls. My life and my wallet are being controlled by the remotes. Update: It's been 2 years. The batteries worked. But while they worked they would never hold a charge while sitting in the drawer waiting to be used. I had to charge the battery just before putting them in the device to use and then the batteries only lasted a day or 2. So now I have to buy all new rechargeable batteries. I build remote ground sensors for environmental science. I have been using EBL for over 2 years and have purchased more than 300 of these batteries. Sensors run all winter (New York) and do very well all year long. The fail rate for me has been pretty low. I have 5 "bad" batteries (meaning it actually has a negative voltage and the charger wont try to charge them). These are rated at 2800mAh though I have not tried to test this. The really only downside is that the batteries are actually a little bit thicker than standard batteries (maybe < 1mm?) They fit in everything but sometimes it is a little bit of tight fit. So far, I have not found any batts more than 2800mAh rating. ... show more
