I shaved my head for chemotherapy because I couldn’t stand dealing with clumps of long hair falling out. I then kept my hair really short through neck surgery because I didn’t have proper use of my arms for a while (I beat both situations and am feeling better, thank you!). It is now time to feel good about my grooming, and wigs look like a great idea. Only, there is a learning curve. I got a new inexpensive synthetic wig which looked great out of the packaging in my hands, but felt a little strange when I wore it. It was puffy and fly-away and overly shiny — which made me uncomfortable about wearing it. In addition, recent medication made my face wider with edema and the last thing I needed was a wig with tendrils spreading horizontally from off my head! A friend who I trust suggested that some of my synthetic fiber adventures resembled tarantulas! They really did! In reality, a new wig does need a little “taming.” I want a wig to feel OK with minimal effort, because of medical issues and I am really tired right now. This is my second wig — the first was a short teased thing I could throw on like a cap, but I felt that I could do better. So I set out to find the minimal “fussing” I could do and still feel good throwing a wig on day after day. I watched several YouTube demos suggest using detanglers, conditioners and dry hair shampoos to make synthetic wigs look less synthetic (some also like washing and rinsing in fabric softeners or boiling in silicone, but I didn’t want to go there). I was ready to take a hairdressers blade to the wig to “thin it down” but don’t want to make the mistake of thinning when the real problem is either the wig structure or the behavior of the fibers. I am new at this and I want to wear it, not create another arachnoid thing while totally ruining an otherwise acceptable wig! Its problem was, in fact, the fibers and static electricity. The proof is how soft and livable the wig became after one treatment. So, although this synthetic wig is brand new and not tangled, I sprayed the tips with a little of this wig detangler/conditioner, just a little at a time, and used a wig brush from the tips brushing downward, and working my way up to the crown. Just as if it had actual tangles. Then I took some Pantene dry shampoo spray and went all around again. The synthetic fibers became less Synthetically shiny, more natural, with less static. They fell downwards in tamed locks, instead of reaching out like spider legs. The synthetic hair flows softly down, or back over my shoulders in a way that I feel comfortable with. I think it is important to use just a little of this spray at a time, so as not to over-do it. Same with the dry shampoo (some dry shampoos will leave a white residue on dark hair – the Pantene brand is less offensive in this respect). I notice that wigs tend to get snarly and nasty at the back on the underside, and I suspect I will be treating this area with this detangler every couple days if I want to continue to enjoy this wig for many months. I am really happy with the detangler/leave-in-conditioner spray. With my next wig I will try to use just this spray, without the dry shampoo, because it may be sufficient by itself. This is a great hairspray. I recommend it to anyone looking for shiny, luxurious, and beautiful hair. It really works, and you only need a little bit of it. Since I'm running low, I will be ordering it again.

Good, But Not Great Review: The **5 Second Detangler** certainly lives up to its name. It detangles hair quickly, making it easier to comb through. The **Moroccan Argan Oil infusion** is a nice touch, adding moisture that leaves the hair feeling soft and manageable compared to brushing it while it's dry. However, while it does provide **instant moisture**, I found that the effect doesn't last as long as I'd like. By the time I eft the house, my hair felt a bit dry, requiring another application. This might not be an issue for everyone, but for those wearing synthetic wigs, and the fact its a recommended product for synthetic wigs it's definitely something to consider. The **lightweight conditioning** is a plus, as it doesn't weigh down the hair or leave it feeling greasy. But again, I found myself wishing for a bit more conditioning power. So, my opinion is that the 5 Second Detangler is a decent product that does give some relief, I feel it's not perfect, but it's worth a try if you're in need of a quick detangling solution. One Hand Pump Sprayer with Simple and Quick Open and Close Toggle Makes It Worth It All By Itself! Product Good Too! Get It! Just got it yesterday and the user experience given the pump alone made it worth its weight in gold! Competitors should take heed, as the traditional spray pump technology makes it difficult to spray at different angles on hair, often requiring two hands because of spray fatigue, and the other ones easily clog and intermittently stop spraying! Get it, you won’t be disappointed! Plus, given the size of the bottle it is more easily mobile for traveling! Plus, you can refill the bottle and reuse! I will be purchasing more…for the bottle alone!!! The product itself is fantastic for QUICKLY getting tangles out. I’ve had some awful knotted, balled up tangles from a ton of swimming in triple-digit CA weather these days, sleeping on my hair, etc…one spray of this product…a few passes with my hairbrush…and voila…it is literally like MAGIC…every time without fail! The tangles and knots are gone! I find the smell itself to be pretty neutral, like a neutralizer more than anything else, and pleasant. Very nice product! Initially I questioned whether it would get my tangles and straight-up knots out…even matted in a couple of spots from swimming under water and then my hair drying out rather quickly from the intense June/July California weather…and every single time the product delivered…tangles and nasty knots gone! ... show more
