Top Amazon Reviews

  • Exceptional Product
Color: Silver Pattern Name: Scale
I bought this scale based on its features and excellent reviews here and after looking around extensively at a variety of scales, their feaures, and their reviews. I have had this scale for just 2 months now so I can't speak to long term reliability, just current performance and usability. So far, it is easily one of the best items I have purchased and a very good value for the money at the price I paid of $36.95 w/free shipping on Amazon. Great accuracy and precision. Very good size. Excellent easy to read display. Wide range of measureable weights to the nearest 0.2 pounds. Excellent customer service with follow up email by the seller to be sure that I was happy with it and having no problems. First, I should say that I set up the scale in a flat area (as recommended) on linoleum. I compared it to my old spring scale and it was within a pound or two. (The old scale was a well rated spring scale that despite an XL dial was hard to read, never fully stabilized for a clear precise read, and was difficult to get full foot placement despite the scales XL size). I also compared it on one occasion to my weight at the doctor's office and it was within a pound. I tried getting on and off repeatedly on a number of occasions immediately or within several minutes after it gave a weight and reset and it always gives the same weight so it clearly gives consistent readings (as long as I do nothing that changes my weight between readings). Another reviewer suggested that it was programmed to repeat the same weight if remeasured within a certain period, so I experimented. On numerous occasions I would weigh myself and than immediately drink varying amounts water or take a dump and weigh myself again and my weight would change in increments of 0.2 pounds that appeared to reflect these weight changes. It also easily showed my water weight changes after an hour or more of sweating exercise - which could be as much as three pounds. I did not try to confirm with known weights whether the scale is accurate throughout its range up to 440 pounds but it seems to be accurate in my weight range, which on this scale has been between 220 to 240 pounds. I did test the lower range with hand weights. With a 2 pound weight on either side (to represent small feet to the sensors) each time it registered 0.0, so it appears it won't register weights of 4 pounds or less. When I tried a 3 pound weight on either side it did register 6.0 pounds exactly so I assume that this is its lower limit and that it is reasonably accurate at lower weights and would also be a good scale for children. I do like the size of the scale although I would have preferred a bit more length. I have size 13 (US) feet and have to position my feet carefully on the scale so that my heel and toes are fully on (I have about a spare 1/4" front and rear). If you have feet larger than size 14 (US) you might have to have your toes extend over the front of the scale and keep your weight between your heels and the balls of your feet. The width is more than adequate for just about anyone. Good luck trying to find a larger household scale anywhere. The large attractive blue backlit display is perfect with nice large numbers with good contrast that are very easy to see in any light. The display also stays on for about 10 seconds after you get off the scale so that if you have a large amount of belly fat that gets in the way of seeing the display while you are on it (or have really bad eyesight) you have plenty of time to view the reading after you get off it. About 6 weeks after the scale arrived the company sent an email asking me to contact them if I had any problems with the scale, included a summary of best practices for operating the scale, provided a support contact number and requested feedback on Amazon. Since it has been such and exceptional item I thought it well worth the time in putting in a review. ... show more

  • Great scale! Already at goal weight! J/K!
Color: Silver Pattern Name: Scale
This scale makes the oft painful process of weighing myself easier and reliable. While it has yet to show me my goal weight, the large lighted display settles quickly and stays lit long enough to either grin or sigh while reading the results. It has a sturdy large base which is low to the ground making it easy to step on and off. This is head and shoulders above other cheap bathroom scales I’ve used. The readings have proven reliable and it is a dependable piece of equipment to daily monitor my health and progress. I highly recommend this scale. ... show more

  • Outstanding product, highly recommend it
Color: Silver Pattern Name: Scale
I initially discovered the Eatsmart brand and the Precision Plus while searching on Google for the "best bathroom scale". Consumer Reports wanted me to subscribe to show me their findings, but others were recommending this product. So I next looked for it on Amazon and read the reviews. The review at the top that included the story about how a VP of Eatsmart intervened to take care of the customer was certainly engaging, and I gave Eatsmart the benefit of the doubt that this story was for real and not a plant. So I ordered two units, for two bathrooms, and they both promptly arrived. My first impression looking at the scale was how large its surface was, wider and broader than any other scale I had ever seen or used. It radiated a sense of how luxurious it would feel to stand on it. Not a dinky little scale that would force me to squeeze my feet into a tiny area and carefully balance myself. My second impression was how thin and flat it felt. Not that a little height would make a huge difference, but by being so flat to the ground, it again gave a sense of a streamlined, modern product design. Next, the scale really projected high quality of engineering. No rough edges, no clumsy parts that were glued on or kluged together. This product comes together nicely. OK, nice first impressions... So on to the functional test. The two AAA batteries was a pleasure to behold. After many years of using my Salter that took only flat button cells that cost an absurd $6 a pair, it was a joy to see the everyday AAA battery! Score some huge points for the total cost of ownership. Installing the two AAA batteries was trivial. Right after I installed the batteries, the big beautiful blue display briefly flashed some numbers, giving a hint of how it would look. I looked for and found the units switch, which was already set to Pounds, but it was a little head scratcher to see Kilograms on either side of the Pounds setting. At any rate, I left it alone. Next, I placed one of the units on a hard, flat surface, a.k.a. tiled bathroom floor, and simply stepped on it. It ran through some numbers, then converged on my weight, flashed it 2-3 times, then settled down. The number sounded pretty accurate. And after I stepped off the scale, it kept the display on for a couple of seconds and shut itself off. Very cool. No need to kick it to wake it up, as I had been doing with my Salter all these days. Now, one last test: I set up the second unit in another bathroom, did the same thing. This unit first gave me a hugely wrong weight, and I felt "Gulp!". But after I stepped off, it displayed a huge C, before shutting itself off. I read the manual and saw that the machine does an auto calibration. So I tried both the machines a second and a third time. Bingo! Once calibrated, both machines worked just fine. They show slightly different weights for me, but the extent of their disagreement is 0.2 pounds. The two floors are a little different, and perhaps the autocalibration is affected in some way. OK, I'll take that little error, that's within reasonable tolerances. Over the next few days / weeks, I'll swap the two locations and see if that has any impact. Apart from that, everything else is fine. I'm delighted with the Eatsmart Precision Plus, kudos to the design team. From what I've seen so far, I would HIGHLY recommend it. Now, it just has to last a few years! ... show more
