  • Easy to use
Works great. Just the size.

  • Instructions
Unlike the directions state, this can't possibly be assembled in 30 minutes. I've got several hours in. Instructions were not the clearest.

Not enough bolts

  • Hardest thing ever to put together, but works
Quite hard to put together. Instructions are not helpful, parts not labeled, and metal beams under the device fit only one way. I put it together backwards probably 10 times before finding the right way to put the bottom braces on. After finally getting it together after 2 and a half hours of staring at the picture and downloading the better instructions from the earthway website, i finally got it done. Tested on a small patch of clay soil in my garden that was watered yesterday, and the tines work like a champ at ripping up grass weeds. Second time using, a tine bent on me. Contacted Earthway and they are sending replacement tine. If your tines bend just email earthway, they'll help ya out. ... show more

  • Misleading assembly time and poor instructions
I've put together many assembly-required products over the years, but this is the hardest and most time-consuming yet. While the instructions say you can get it done in 30 minutes “with common hand tools,” what you need is a day off, a good set of sockets and socket wrenches (several sizes are needed) and patience. Tip to Earthway: hire a technical writer who knows how to write instructions. The final product does a decent job of manual plowing but if I were buying it again, I wouldn't. Ebay has older versions, already assembled. ... show more

  • Works as it's supposed to
Not as good as the antiques better built ones .it's not a tiller it's meant for use after you till it glides well .you don't need to add a lot of pressure I you have tilled well .it maintains what I need done.

  • It moves dirt.
Is this a cultivator, yes. Does it work, yes. Would I purchase again, yes. It came with 3 different head attachments. I purchased it for the cultivator attachment specifically. It would be nice if the tines were more similar to the "antique" high wheels. The tines are a but chunky in my opinion, but they do the job. The biggest reason I would buy this over and again is the customer service. I had an issue with my cultivator, sent an email and got an immediate response. They took great care of the issue and I couldn't have asked for faster service. Worth getting if you garden at all. ... show more

  • This is the good one !
This is the cultivator I've looked for for years. Had one like it fifty years ago .. this one is the same in all essentials and is still the one that's perfect for a back yard garden, even better now that I'm fifty years older. I live in an area of heavy clay so I've used a lot of peat and garden soil and Holy Cow and had a guy with a big gas tiller churn it all in to almost a foot deep and now I won't need anything but this little push cultivator in future. It is not designed to break ground like a big tiller, but once you get the initial tilling done this is all you'll need .. try making at least a couple of passes with it, shallow to begin, then deeper. It's very easy to maneuver so you can do wide row planting if you like. I don't know what the problem is with the comments about a wobbly wheel, just follow the diagram and that won't happen. I'm an 82 year old woman and put mine together by myself. .. it runs like a dream, far less effort than a push lawn mower. And if you do hit a snag, email their help line .. you get a real live person who actually knows what he's talking about. ... show more
