  • Feels like a solid spreader but assembly and parts were an issue
So minor issues but still outside what was expected. The assembly had parts that were preassembled that deviated from the instructions. It was mainly the handle assembly that was already put together and the instructions didn't show that. It didn't appear someone else bought then returned this unit as everything was packed like it came from the factory and the parts bags were sealed. The parts bag was missing a large cotter pin which held on one of the wheels. Instead they gave me 2 small cotter pins (assembly requires 1 of each). So a trip to Lowes and $1 later I got what should have been in the parts bag to begin with. Ran 4 products through it yesterday and it appears to be doing a great job spreading the material. It's easy to use and it travels over my lawn much better than the scotts spreader i was replacing with this. I saw a bunch of reviews talking about the height of the handles, I'm 5'11" and had no issues with the handle placement. If anything it was better than the scotts spreader I had been using. Overall an upgrade and a solid buy but it is expensive and for the money they were asking I would have expected all the parts to be there so I have to ding them for a star. ... show more

  • Watch the video, throw the insruction booklet away.
This is a well made product and will last for years. the assembly is better with the video. The instructions that come with the spreader are poorly written. Step four is ??? I'm not entirely sold on the use of the cotter pin as an agitator but it works well enough if the granules being applied are big enough. I was applying Anderson Duo - Cide which is very fine and I'm not sure if the application was entirely even at times. This might just me getting used to the spreader. Also the tires on my spreader were made in China, so I'm not sure how much weight I would give the made in America we don't use imported parts claim. ... show more

  • Perfect for my small lawn
The Earthway spreader seems to be very well made. I love the rubber tires, it pushes so much easier and smoother than my previous Scotts spreader with cheap plastic wheels. The hooper is a perfect size for most bags of product. Everything flows out of the hooper well because of the shape of it, so no more boucing the spreder around at the end to be the remaining product out. I also feel like it is easier to see where the product is being thrown because of the circle shape of the hooper. Lastly, I love that this spreader is built in America. ... show more

  • Missing parts.
Received missing wheels without issue a couple of days later, so I'll change my rating. This is a good quality spreader...if you are anything above the 10,000 sq ft range, you'll want a quality spreader like this. Be sure to watch the installation video posted by the manufacturer along with some other reviewers as they are much easier to follow than the assembly instructions. Disappointed, product delivered today with both wheels missing. How does that even happen? Not sure what else would be wrong with it considering I can't do anything with it without the wheels. Also judging by how the box was re-taped up, I'd say I got someone else's returned item. Not happy. ... show more

  • Assembly can be difficult
I did not believe the reviewer who said it took an hour to assemble. He/she was right. Not only that, certain of the parts simply did not go together. It would have been nice to have some troubleshooting tips, like what to do when you can get one wheel bearing into place but not the other. I’m sure there will be one when I call the company this morning. If you are going to rely on the customer to assemble your products, and assembly is or can be difficult, it probably pays to collect the most common mistakes made and offer solutions in the packet of instructions. I assume the product works well after you get it together, but I can’t comment on those aspects of the product as yet. Follow up: It's really nice to reach a helpful company representative by phone who is in this country, whose every sentence does not start with, "For this one...", and who really knows the product the product. Earthway appears to be the antithesis of the off-shoring that we're all familiar with. Nick had to have realized he was dealing with pilot error. Yet he gave no indication that I was the problem, was extremely patient with me as he guided me through a process of figuring out what was wrong. As you might expect, the problem was mine: I was not pushing quite hard enough to get the plastic bearing on the drive shaft. It's a really tight fit, as it should be, and it takes a little wiggling while you're pushing. I haven't yet finished assembly, as other matters called. In the meantime, I am upgrading the rating to 4 stars based on the customer service. These guys are good. ... show more

  • Worst assembly instructions
I haven't used this yet, so I'll modify my star rating once I do, but this review is based off my first glance at the assembly instructions. The packet I received looks like it was printed on a copy machine or printer with low toner. It's all faded and really difficult to read. Can't believe for something in this price category it comes with directions that are unreadable (and dated in July 2021). I'll find a copy of instructions online and watch a video, but right off the bat this is a bad first impression. ... show more

  • Quality Spreader; Assembly Instructions are Horribel
Great high quality broadcast spreader but the enclosed printed assembly instructions are horrible and illegible. The YouTube assembly instructions are excellent.
