I'll add to the general praise everyone has for these. I loved these. I had tried an LED before, years ago, but the flickering and lack of dimming wasn't great. I never had any problems with these. I got a nice, bright light and it worked when I dimmed them as well. After having them for a couple of years, one of the two bulbs had burned out. For some reason I decided to replace them with standard incandescent bulbs. I immediately regretted it. The light that came out was far dimmer, yellow light that made everything look grimy. I went right back and ordered another pair of these. I bought these E17 Dimmable LED's to install in the microwave hood for my in-laws. They had original bulbs that lasted >10 years. First know the socket size. Their originals are E17, these LED's are E17. Second, know if you need dimmable. If you have two brightness, you need dimmable. In this case, one of the bulbs had burned out and both of the bulbs had fused into the socket. Fortunately, this is a two pack and you will likely need both. Not sure why you'd want to keep a 40W bulb when you can replace it with a brighter 4W bulb anyway. Each old bulb literally broke apart in my hands as I tried to unscrew them. So have a needle nose pliers handy. You can use it to grab the base or apply outward pressure from inside the socket. That might sound hard but it only took seconds and it was very easy with the right tool. Be prepared for an old bulb to break in your hands as they have no integrity left. Consider wearing gloves if you have some thin enough. I did not. And follow the number one rule, unplug the appliance BEFORE you work on the it. These LED's are bright and run cool to the touch. This LED Bulb fits in a KitchenAid Microwave- Model KMHS120ESS11. This Bulb is a close fit and takes a little bit of maneuvering to get it into place to screw in (due to the length of this Bulb) but it does fit and works great. I have used several sets of these to replace the incandescent hood bulbs under our microwave. They are bright enough to make stovetop cooking easily visible, the color of the light is natural, and they do not flicker even when dimmed. I knocked them down 1 star for durability. I realize that a hood above a hot stove/oven is a tough place, but these seem to burn out after a year or two. It would be nice if they lasted longer.
