Not having to worry about cords is great. Not sure why I didn't upgrade to one of these sooner. The suction is way better than any other vacuum I've ever had. The battery is short (maybe 15 min) on "max" suction but if you just pick a room or two to do per day then this is quite manageable.

I am so happy that I've purchased this. I've used it weekly for about a month - and so far I love it! I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and was looking for a stick vacuum that could handle both hardwood floors AND carpet. This was a great choice. My previous vacuum was pretty bulky and it was very loud and started to smell when I used it, so I dreaded vacuuming. I would do it like every 6 months or even once a year (I really, really hate vacuuming), and with 2 cats and myself, who has long hair, that was not good. So once I moved to a new place, I vowed to do vacuuming once a week. This Dyson stick vacuum is perfect for that. It is not as loud as my previous vacuum so that is pretty nice. The suction is amazing so it picks up a lot of hair/fur from my floors. Vacuuming is no longer a dreaded chore. I also love how it is super easy to empty the container - I empty it every time I use it. I hated emptying my old vacuum because it was such a big event, but for this one, it's a matter of pulling it open and boom - the container is open and the contents easily drop into the trash. The vacuum doesn't take up a lot of space, so when I'm done, I can store it in a small closet. I know others have commented on the battery life - honestly, that may be an issue if I lived in a home with lots of rooms to cover. But I think it's perfect for apartments. I can vacuum my bedroom multiple times before I have to recharge it. Anyways, I do think it's worth it. It is pretty expensive, but so far it has been worth every dime. My parent's Dyson vacuum has lasted decades... I hope this one lasts forever too. ... show more

    • Great Cordless but short battery life.

The media could not be loaded. I really love my Dyson. But two glaring mistakes stick out with this one. First, the battery dies FAST! We thought it was too fast and even had Dyson send us a replacement- nope. Just dies fast is all. You'll get about 30 minutes on reg power and about 15 on high. Then, it takes like 3 hours to charge. Second? The design of the wall hanger is weird. Every time we hang up to charge we have to really give it a good push and it's gotten to the point that tie cord is now permanently bent. Hopefully we dont meed to replace in a year. Other than that, the suction is SUPERIOR to anything else on the market, which is I guess what we pay for. So, I'm still happy I bought it, but a longer battery life and less charging time would definitely be helpful. ... show more

Great vacuum cleaner. It's lightweight. Easy to use. I like the attachments and how easily to converts to a handheld vacuum. The suction is outstanding. Here is what I absolutely hate about it and what ruins everything else for me: the battery life. It lasts so little. Especially if you use the turbo option. It lasts less than 30 minutes. It's super disruptive when cleaning and you're stuck waiting for it to charge so you can continue using it. I have heard the Dyson V15's battery life is way better. I wish I would've gotten that instead. I know it's more expensive. It's a huge disappointment because this vacuum is not cheap. It's several hundred dollars. And I think it's so disrespectful to the consumer spending all this money on a vacuum cleaner for us to not be able to fully use it as intended because the manufacturer couldn't produce a better battery. Having to stop and recharge every 20 to 30 minutes is a joke. I'll be returning it. ... show more

    • Incredible vacuum for pet hair

We have Yorkies that shed hair 24/7. Our commercial upright vacuum just wasn't cleaning the downstairs carpet - short pile commercial carpeting - where the Yorkies spend most of their time. We were skeptical about a small cordless vacuum being able to pick up all of the hair, dirt and sand that the Yorkies drag in every day, but decided to give it a try. Amazing results. Even after thoroughly vacuuming the floor with our commercial upright, the Dyson V8 still almost filled the canister with dog hair, dirt and sand the upright vacuum missed. We use the Dyson every day now, and it is amazon how much hair and dirt it picks up each time. And it is equally amazing how only small amounts of hair accumulate on the roller. This vacuum is worth every penny if you have pets and lots of pet hair. We couldn't get the small hair screw tool from Amazon, but was able to get direct from Dyson in 5 days. I bought this to replace my Shark stick vacuum that I loved, but was worn out. I got the Dyson because it was cordless and on sale. I love it. It's a breeze to use. It's light weight and not having a cord makes it super easy to use. Attaching and detaching from the charger is a snap. The suction power is fantastic. I use it daily. It's not perfect though. The battery doesn't last long. It says 30 minutes, but you'll get 15-20 if your lucky. Also, don't expect it to run on certain area rugs. It runs great on my indoor/outdoor rug, but fabric rugs get stuck in the suction. Even on the lower power. Also, you have to hold the power button for it to run. I have tennis elbow, and this is a problem for me. Be careful of the way the canister opens to empty. You have to hold it horizonal or it will empty onto your feet. ... show more
