Mattress on my sofa bed is thin and uncomfortable so I got this as a mattress topper. Alone it is OK but on top of the original mattress it is perfect. Very comfortable if you like a medium firm mattress, like I do. I used it when I had to quarantine with Covid and slept well. Our guests have complimented it as well when they have used it. Of course, the bed won't close with both mattresses in place, so I have to store the memory foam mattress separately when we are not using it as a bed. Other than that, it was a perfect solution to the age old problem of uncomfortable sofa bed mattresses. ... show more

I actually WANTED to write this review as both my guests and I are thrilled with this replacement mattress! I have a couch that is functionally and aesthetically fine but is 29 years old! The original spring mattress was okay for its time, but over the 29 years had lost its "spring" and padding which led to feeling the cross bars more so in the couch and pretty much unable to use the sleeper pull out. We did not use this pull out for years and then with a lot of company coming, we figured we ought to try the pull out....it was NOT until recently when we thought about using this pull out again if we could find a replacement mattress for it...and with research, we came across this one! It is well described in the write up and I measured the thickness of our old spring mattress and ordered the 4 inch thick, queen size pull out replacement mattress....I was concerned that maybe it would not fold back in....but it DOES fit perfectly and actually gives the couch a more firm seating as well. The ONLY thing, and it is not major at all, is that it is harder to pull out as the mattress is heavier than the orginal...but we have two people pull it out to make it easier....one person can do it, but we just have two of us pull it out to just be easier. Our guests said they did NOT feel the bars and we also tested it out and it is a very comfortable mattress and really you don't feel the cross bars. I did order the foldable back board, but truly, you don't need it.....it might give a bit more support for a firmer feel, but you don't need it with this mattress unless you want to make double sure no one feels the bars or you want a firmer mattress feel! We could NOT be more thrilled with this purchase...we now can use our 29 year old couch which hasn't been slept on in over 10 years.....with this new mattress, it gives us a lot of opportunity to have multiple guests visit and stay! ... show more

Reading the comments, I truly don’t think people are waiting a few days before using the mattress to allow it to inflate to true thickness and size. You should give it ATLEAST 4-7 days to completely inflate 🙂 (that’s with ANY bed in a box). It’s VERY comfortable and we can’t feel the bar in our pullout couch at all! I didn’t have high hopes, but this exceeded my expectations! Excellent bed for the price! ... show more
