I usually don't give 5 star reviews. The product really has to be quite special for that... and this mattress fit the bill. My husband and I were on the lookout for a new mattress for over 6 months. We were sick and tired of our mattresses basically failing within 5 years.. even with the 10 year warranties which ended up not covering anything that actually broke. I wanted something more like a sleep number bed, but my husband was really leaning toward a foam bed. I had heard that foam beds were uncomfortable and hot. Most of my friends who had gotten foam beds in the past, had returned them within 3 months. So admittedly, I went into buying this bed with a bit of a bad attitude. What I like about this bed. It is really quite comfortable! I am one for a firmer type of mattress. Granted, I don't want to sleep on a board, it should have some give, but I don't want to sink down into it. This mattress was perfect. It conforms to your body, but you definitely don't 'sink'. It was much more firm than I thought it would be. I will say, I used to wake up a bit stiff and since getting this bed, I don't anymore. Another thing that is great about this mattress is that you do NOT get hot in it. Again, one of the main complaints I had heard over and over about other foam mattresses was how hot they were. Not so with this one. My husband gets very hot at night and he has not had any issue with this bed being hotter than any other mattress we've owned. Some other things I was very happy with was... We used our regular box springs underneath and that hasn't effected the quality of this bed either. It is a true to size king sized mattress. I liked that all our sheets were able to fit over the mattress (i.e. the thickness of the mattress although quite thick wasn't so thick that I had to go out and buy new extra-depth type sheets). Then there was the price! We did a lot of comparison shopping and the price compared to other foam mattresses (along with traditional type mattresses) really couldn't be beat! Lastly, I loved how this was delivered and how easy it was to just put on the bed. I thought it was a bit heavy, but my husband says it's no heavier than any other mattress. I also liked that we got two pillows out of the same foam as well (a nice little bonus). One thing that really bothered me when we first got this mattress was the smell. Now, the manufacturer does say to 'air it out' for a number of days and the smell should disappear. Frankly, I smelled the odor for quite a long time and was worried that it wouldn't go away. My husband smelled it too, but after about a week he said he couldn't smell it anymore. I, however, smelled it for a good month afterward. Granted it eventually totally faded away, but was still there for a lot longer than I anticipated. Overall, this was an A+ purchase and one we have not regretted in the least. It's very comfortable, not hot, and was priced right! I will note here again, this mattress is more FIRM than I think most people would imagine a foam mattress to be. It does 'break in' a little over time, but it's still firm. Also, the odor will eventually go away, but it takes a little longer than the manufacturer says (at least that's been our experiences). We have had this mattress now for about 9 months and have really been happy with it. We actually ended up getting a twin sized version of this mattress for one of our children (whose mattress had pretty much died). She, too, has been really happy with it. If we need another mattress in the future, this will be our 'go to' choice. UPDATE: None of our last 4 spring mattresses lasted over 7 years. After 6 years we are looking into replacing this mattress with the same model. The spring mattresses cost 2 to 3 times as much as this mattress so I have no issue purchasing this new mattress every 6 years. I do recommend rotating the mattress once a year. I probably would have gotten another year or two out of it if I had kept rotating it. Overtime the mattress does become noticeable less firm. ... show more

I've had this bed a month now and for reference, I'm 5'10" and 190lbs. Let's touch on some common topics for my queen size bed: I prefer firm beds to the point of preferring the floor over a bed that is too soft, but this is like nothing I've ever experienced. It is extremely firm and takes a little while to conform to you after laying on it to warm it up. After a month of use though the side I sleep on more is definitely softer to the touch and responds a bit faster. I wake up feeling much better than I did on a spring mattress and usually my body feels fully rested, but I still wake up a few times while sleeping because I'm uncomfortable and I have to move completely out of the spot I'm stuck in to another area of the bed. I do experience occasional shoulder soreness that I didn't have before. Possibly from laying in the same spot too long because I tend to sleep like the dead in this bed, which is a good thing. I am a side sleeper 90% of the time with occasional back or stomach sleeping. One really nice thing is that I can sleep on this bed face down with no pillow extremely comfortable. I have to question whether a lighter person would ever get comfortable on this bed though. The heat/cool of this bed is also mysterious. I am normally a hot sleeper and sweat through the night especially on a foam mattress. Not this bed. It is freezing cold. Uncomfortably so right now since it has been cold around here. That might be slowing down the break-in/comfort level of this bed as well. The good thing is that it should be very nice in the summer time. The cool gel layer definitely works extremely well. I think using an electric blanket on it in the winter would be a good idea because it would be more supple and comfortable to hop into and get it molded to you better. Especially in the foot area where people just don't conduct much heat and your calves and feet tend to just lay on top of the mattress. Shipping was blazing fast as expected with Prime and it showed up on a Saturday afternoon by Fedex in great shape. No busted packaging as some have had issues with. One tip I have is cut a slit where the pillows are because that is the bottom of the mattress. Pull them out then flip it over and commence with the rest of the unpackaging per the instructions. Unfortunately, I set it up in one bedroom and then decided I wanted to swap bedrooms so I had to move it a day later at full size. I should have thought about it ahead of time. The cover, as shown in the picture, makes it a very elegant looking bed. Better than some $4000 springs beds I've had. The smell at first was minimal when unpackaged. Then about 2 hours into the expansion process the whole house smelled like a chemical storage facility so I opened the windows and turned off the furnace to let the house air out even though it was cold out. That worked just fine. I slept on it that night and the odor was minimal by then. To this day though, it still has a slight odor if you sniff the bed directly. Nothing that you can smell in the room though or notice when you sleep on it. I use a buckwheat pillow and have for years as it eliminated all my neck pain. I have not tried the included pillows, but my daughters use them. They claim to like them. I might try one though as the combination of the buckwheat pillow on the foam mattress is oddly uncomfortable occasionally. I've never had an issue with my pillow being uncomfortable before so maybe it doesn't work well on this type of bed. For the price involved so far I don't think you can beat this deal if you like a firm, supportive mattress. I wonder if a thinner one in the 10" range would be a bit more comfy. Once it warms up here to summer temps, I'll report back on my experience with the bed with more use on it as well. Hope this helps more buyers make their decision. Update 3/29/16: A little over 2 years in and I couldn't be happier. The one thing I did do was put a 1" foam topper over the mattress after about 3 months. This got rid of the problem of it not confirming to your body right away. The small amount of foam in the topper confirms to you, holds a little heat and actually helps the bed take shape better. I've had no issues of it sagging, getting soft or other quality issues as some have claimed. It's exactly the same as it was when I bought it and it is the only bed I can sleep on and not wake up with back pain. I still wake up once or twice a night in the same position and laying in a puddle of drool. I flip the pillow and swap to the other side of my body and sleep the rest of the night in complete comfort. I had bought a cheaper bed on Amazon for the guest room, but it is too soft I think. The wife initially liked it better, but now she prefers this bed to any others as well. We are thinking of moving to a king size though just for some extra room. My youngest daughter is super excited because she loves this bed too and can't wait for us to get a king so she can have the queen. ... show more
