Description

Dymatize Elite Casein helps keep your muscles supplied with a steady stream of amino acids, the building blocks of muscle. This helps avoid the catabolic state of muscle protein breakdown that begins to happen when your muscles are deprived of the right nutrients. Casein is a unique protein derived from milk that breaks down slowly in your digestive system, keeping you fuller longer and providing a sustained release of muscle-building amino acids. This makes casein the ideal choice anytime your body goes without protein for an extended period, especially just before bedtime. Dymatize Elite Casein delivers 25 grams of sustained-release protein, with over 10 grams of critical branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamine precursors per serving.

  • Believe the Hype
Flavor Name: Cinnamon Bun Size: 51 Servings (Pack of 1)
UPDATE 9/6/2017: Been using for a few weeks now and I've figured out the thickness problem. The ideal shake for me is 10oz water for every scoop of protein. I've found 8oz or less results in the shake being too thick and just unpleasant to drink. You can expect most reviews on protein powders rated 4+ stars to rave about the taste, even when you’ve tried it yourself and it tastes like sweet dirt (MusclePharm). So of course when I saw the reviews for this Dymatize Casein I didn’t really bat an eye. I was glad nobody was saying it tasted terrible, but I was mostly concerned with the macros and ingredient list. After deciding on this because of its good price, only a few ingredients, and quality macros, I received it a few days ago. Believe me when I say this is the best tasting protein I’ve had the pleasure of purchasing. Honestly it tastes like a Chick Fil A shake, if Chick Fil A had a cinnamon flavor. And I’ve only been using one scoop per 8oz water, I can only imagine how 1.5 scoops tastes with milk or vanilla almond milk. YES it is very thick compared to Gold Standard or other whey powders, but I think all casein powders are. But that doesn't make it difficult to mix. My one scoop per 8oz water mixes fully with just a few shakes of the blender bottle. I'd say it mixes even easier than the Gold Standard I have. The first night I drank it I’ll admit I had some trouble downing it because I was already pretty full. But every night since I’ve had no issues. I just enjoy the taste too much, the thick texture doesn’t bother me anymore. I used to wake up with stomach aches because I’d be so hungry, but not since taking this protein. Also I’ve experienced no side effects like gas or bloating. For anyone wondering, I am bulking and do one scoop with my last meal for the day, 1-1.5 hours before bed. I’d recommend having it 1.5-2 hours before bed. Last night I did an hour and had to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. Not ideal. I’ve heard of some people also using casein when cutting. One scoop in the morning to keep you full for several hours until lunch rolls around. I’d recommend it for this purpose too, it keeps me full but not bloated and I bet it’ll taste great in a smoothie with some berries and a banana in the morning. ... show more

  • A little gritty but good taste.
Flavor Name: Vanilla Size: 55 Servings (Pack of 1)
Would rate this 5 stars but It's a little gritty. Other than that it doesn't taste to sweet which is a plus in my book and has good flavor (vanilla).

  • TASTES AMAZING!!!!
Flavor Name: Chocolate Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
My trainer suggested this powder. I ordered it, not knowing what to expect. I heated up a glass of filtered water last night & added the redommended 2 scoops. I was SHOCKED at the taste! It is absolutely Amazing!!! This product is a trifecta: 1. I am getting slow-release protein through my night. 2. I DEFINITELY don't want any more snacks bc it is so filling. 3. I am not eating a piece of chocolate or 3 before bedtime! Added Bonus: Hubby loves it, too & now I am fixing us each a warm glass of this protein hot chocolate every night. LOL ... show more

  • A great protein powder for baking and blended shakes
Flavor Name: Vanilla Size: 27 Servings (Pack of 1)
I initially bought this protein because I wanted a pure casein powder for the sake of baking and other recipes. Pros: - Tastes amazing and is absolutely phenomenal in recipes. Pictured above is a protein Vanilla Ice Cream I made in my blender. - Extremely versatile in recipes. Casein protein powder in baking helps make things have a dense, less dry, less cakey recipe than whey, so it's a must-have for any protein baker. - Whips up nicely. Think of whisked eggs. An example is also in the picture above. - Reasonably priced. - The macros are good enough. The composition of this powder is 83.3% calories from protein which is good considering this powder tastes good. Cons: - Due to the nature of it being a casein blend, this does not mix well with water at all, so it is not good for quick protein shakes. If you mix this with water or milk, you may find it to be very grainy and thick which isn't too desirable. - It is reasonably priced, but it is still not the cheapest option for general protein intake. Overall: I still think even with the cons this qualifies as a 5-star item. Casein powder just typically isn't great for quick water/milk-based shakes in general, so I can't take points off for that, and the price itself is fair. TLDR: It's a good-tasting, reasonably-priced product. If you are planning on using it for baking or other recipes buy it. If you are planning on drinking this, do NOT buy this. Opt for a Whey protein or a Whey Isolate instead. ... show more

  • At this price-point, my favorite casein so far
Flavor Name: Cookies & Cream Size: 53 Servings (Pack of 1)
Casein typically doesn’t taste as smooth as whey—it’s naturally a wee bit gritty—but Dymatize blends and tastes better than most others I’ve tried, other than Optimum Nutrition. I prefer the ON cookies and cream to this one, but just barely, as I think it taste a little better, but it costs more. So, price relative to value, this is my go-to. This is a micellar casein, which is the best and least processed form of casein, which means it costs a little more than others. I take 50gs before bed, since you need more casein to stimulate muscle protein synthesis than with whey, but with casein it delivers over a much longer duration than whey, which is short-acting. I take it at bed after workout nights, but I’ll take just 25 on non-workout nights, if I think I’m out of the muscle-protein-synesthis window. I’ll take it at 50 g during the day if I don’t have time to make a meal and it’ll be a while before I can eat. This brand and flavor tastes good enough (and a lot better than Body Tech’s, and it mixes better, too), and I think it helps me sleep a tad bit better. I usually blend up a banana with it for some added fiber and carbs. The only con I can think of is that the caps on these are peculiarly stubborn to remove upon the initial opening, but just at first. I hope this review is helpful to somebody. ... show more
