    • Smaller holes would make this better... for our purposes
I'd seen these used in a number of food videos/shows, and it seemed so easy to use, too easy to clean, but I didn't care for this particular rocker. I felt the holes were too big. I ended up having to put the garlic back onto my board to crush a few more times because the holes are the size of a big chop, IMO, about a few millimeters in diameter. But because the holes were so big, re-crushing was a bit difficult because, well, big holes make for big pieces to still pass through. The holes are about 3x bigger than a basic garlic press, I'd say. But then again, for those who like bigger chops in, say, cooked dishes, this may suffice just fine. We often like to add crushed garlic to uncooked dressing/sauces in which one typically doesn't want to have bigger chunks of garlic, so this rocker's holes are not appropriate for our use. We didn't use the herb stripper because, well, is it really that difficult to strip an herb? I find that my fingers are best at stripping because they are adjustable clamps that will not crush/ruin the herbs, or can size up/down according to the stem. So, sorry, I can't speak to that, but I suspect that most people are buying this primarily for the ease of crushing garlic. This seems to be fine for folks who have less strength or use of their hands, and for those who don't need fine mince or chop. If we need a coarseness like this rocker provides, we can just take our knife, crush the cloves, then give them a few chop-chops. For finer pieces, we can go back to our garlic press, then flip it over to let the "teeth" push out the garlic stuck in the holes. Granted, my overall rating is subjective, but all in all, I didn't feel it made life any easier; if anything, it made for double the work for us. ... show more

Doesn’t quite turn the garlic into paste, but is quicker and easier than chopping or crushing. Don’t get this thinking it’s a paste maker.

This is great, especially if you don’t have strength in your hands for an old fashioned garlic press. It’s easy to rock back and forth and scrape the garlic off the top. It’s easy to clean and doesn’t have any moving parts.

I had a garlic press but decided to try this since I hate cleaning the press out. This is a great tool. Love that I can roll the cloves in the tube, easily de-paper and then 'dice' with the rocker.
