  • Donโ€™t wait. Just buy it
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel Pattern Name: Generator
Taking out out of the box, it was fairly simple to add the tires and handles. Make sure we you connect the battery terminal and add oil. Noise level is a bit loud but you know that when buying it so itโ€™s expected. Maneuverability is ok. Still a bit heavy so it would be tough to move over soggy grass areas unless you replace the wheels with larger ones. So far I have been just turning it on every other week for 5 minutes. Have not had to use it yet but being in Houston I am sure it will get used. Seems like at least every 3 years we have a few days without power. I added a soft starter to my 5 ton HVAC so that I can run my whole house on it as needed. Just built my own 50 Amp cable and added a plug to my panel with a breaker and lock. Looking forward to not worrying about having AC when we need it. My next purchase is getting a large 100lb propane tank. ... show more

  • Would buy again
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel Pattern Name: Generator
The product is great, but first I would like to talk about Amazon. I ordered a different generator that was to be delivered on the 13th of Oct. I received an update from Amazon that they tried to deliver on the 14th but wasn't able to reach me. Contacted shipper and they informed me that they didn't have the item, but Amazon continue to tell me it was on the way. It wasn't and finally Amazon said it was damaged and they had to cancel the order. A lot of back and forth that I will just skip over. Now I was just notified that the price of this generator is less than $800. If you are looking to buy, now is the time and this is a great unit. I got a call from the trucking company that it would be delivered on Wed between 6 and 10 pm. Later same day, got another update that it would be delivered between 4 and 8 pm. At 4:05, truck arrived with item, at 4:16pm Amazon emailed me that it would be delivered on Fri, which was the original date from Amazon. This is the first time that I have had so much trouble with shipping from Amazon. Just a heads up if you do order one, no telling when it will arrive. I unpacked and inspected the unit and all looked good. Discovered a dent in the end cover of the generator the next day but it was no big deal. I removed the cover and made sure everything was good and straightened it out. Done deal. I prepped the unit by myself, installed handles and wheels and oil. Not real easy for a 76 year old but I was able to get it done, (it weights close to 250 lbs). Connected to propane tank and it started on first try. Ran the unit for about an hour and a half on a 25% full 20 pound tank. I read that you should run it for 6 to 8 hours to break it in. There was some frosting on tank, which could be expected so going forward I will use the bigger tanks. The noise level is about the same as my Duromax 5500, which is a surprise. Overall it is a great unit and should power my entire house during power outage. I would buy again. So, bottom line, 5 stars for the unit, maybe 3 1/2 for shipping and updates from Amazon ... show more

  • Good price, copper windings in generator
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel Pattern Name: Generator
Only had this for a few days, but I've checked how it functions on propane and gasoline - good so far... Assembles easily enough (just handles and wheels and removing metal shipping braces)... Noise not bad, and I'll have it in an enclosed outbuilding anyway... The air intake filter is foam, not an off the shelf replacement, like on a garden tractor... Not sure if it has a fuel filter, easily installed, though... it will need a small battery maintainer, since it has a small lead acid starter battery (about $30)... The idle control probably won't save much fuel unless your load goes to very near zero for a majority of the time, even my electric drill will cause it to go to full load rpm... Overall quality seems very good and reasonable for the price, especially with a copper wound gen head instead of copper plated aluminum like, say on a Champion generator... Too early to tell whether it'll hold up over time, but I think it's a safe bet this is one of the best choices out there... Good luck... Update July 2023... got this May of this year (2023), and I finally got my electric service boxes set up to where I could power everything up under full load (two houses and a work shop). I checked it with the a/c, one fridge, one freezer, the well pump, and whatever else was running... It ran those loads just fine, so I plugged in the air compressor as well. Everything seems to work ok, so I'm satisfied with it... ... show more

  • The perfect backup generator
Style: 13,000-Watt Dual Fuel Pattern Name: Generator
A friend of mine bought the sister version made by Duro Max and after seeing how his handled a whole house backup in a power outage vs my old 9k watt generator having to pick and choose what to run and not be able to run AC, I had to have one of these. The Duro Star 13000 EH is amazing. I powered my AC system, LED lights, TV, fridge, deep freeze and some miscellaneous items like it was nothing. I ran it on propane (I will keep running it when it's needed to use, on propane unless the outage lasts too long and I have to revert to gasoline...while gasoline provides more power, the propane is clean burning and leaves zero residue through the system unlike gas). and purchased a few 40 lb tanks to run it off of. I did the full break in period of 6-8 hours as recommended prior to needing to use it. I highly recommend going to their website, register the product and read up, there is a TON of useful info on the FAQ and Q&A sections, I learned a ton. I read just about everything I could on the website and a friend of mine is a journeyman electrician and he installed a house transfer/interlock switch for this to make easy hookup to run the things I need to run in a power outage. This is a beautiful machine, just be sure to order a cover for it. I got mine at Lowes online that is a exact fit for this model......duro max/duro star are almost all made in the same factory and to the same specs as per their website....one is blue and the other is red. I scored on a great price on this and love the item. No more being worried about the next power outage, this thing is a beast. ... show more

This generator is a monster.. it easily powers my home.. A/C, Furnace, pumps, Refrigerators, lights etcโ€ฆitโ€™s loud, but the 8 gallon tank easily keeps everything running for 9 to 10 hrs. If it was human I wouldnโ€™t allow this beast out of the house!!
