    • Good assortment of clamp pliers for inexpensive price

Despite working as an auto technician for several years, I never had a set of these clamping pliers. I always used a set of needle nose vise grips with vinyl tubing over the jaws to protect the hose I was clamping shut. It worked fine, but it meant that my vise grips were clamped onto a hose instead of in my tool cart in case I needed them. I recently had to work on two different fuel systems-- my motorcycle, and my lawn tractor. Out of curiosity I searched for hose clamping pliers and saw that I could buy this set for $15. At that price I decided they were worth the gamble. Let's be honest-- you'll never mistake these for a set of Snap On pliers. They feel a bit flimsy and even at their tightest setting, they don't clamp as tightly as a really good set of hose clamp pliers. However, I've used them on 2 different fuel hoses so far and not a single drop leaked out once these were tightened down. In other words, they won't win any prizes but they work fine. Since I don't do this for a living any more, that's fine by me. I wouldn't expect these to stand up to heavy use in a shop, but if you're a starting tech or a home-gamer, these would probably work fine. I do like the fact that some have angled jaws to allow you to reach hard-to-get hoses, and they come in a good mix of sizes. This is a good kit to have if you don't want to spend a lot of money but still need something of reasonable quality to get you started. ... show more

I was using dog eared clamps, taking at least 5 minutes each to clamp my fuel lines, they worked great but these are so fast and easy. Cuts my time and effort in half. My injury prevents my hands and fingers from doing fine motor skills. I have little strength and these clamps don’t require any strength!! I rarely give reviews. They are a little bulky but that’s a small issue I’ll get used to! ... show more

    • Didn't clamp my hoses

Probably depends on the hoses being clamped, but even the smallest clamp would not clamp smooth vinyl 5/8" hose. They do not close completely - like the clamp ends do not come together. There is a 1/4" to 3/8" gap when closed.
