My son loves this on his windows. It doesn't let any light through and has held up well. I haven't seen any peeling after this time. Installation wasn't hard as long as you can cut in a straight line. It completely darkens a room in daylight, if all the windows are covered. The only thing I had trouble with is peeling off the backing. That was a pain, but so is most self sticking peel-ables. In my honest opinion, this window film was easier to install than any other type I have tried, and it was significantly more affordable as well. My husband was on the other side of the glass, moving back and forth to test the film's opacity. He didn't know I was taking photos for this review, adding to the candidness of this feedback. The shadow in the second photo is from our porch light, specifically the trim around the porch. Initially, I was skeptical about the etched oval glass shown in other reviews, as it seemed partially transparent. However, after applying this film myself, I can confidently say it is completely opaque. Although I have had some prior experience with window film, following the instructions meticulously will ensure excellent results. Remember, water is helpful in this process. The film adheres through static cling, not stickiness. Don't be afraid to use more water than what you think you need. What's Included: This purchase is a kit. The tools are located inside the tube of film - a detail I only discovered after reading other reviews. You'll Need: A water spray bottle (set to fine mist) A credit card or small squeegee A lint-free cloth (the kit includes one, but I didn't test it for lint) Application Tips: 1. Measure the Area: Determine the size of the space you need to cover. 2. Cut the Film: Leave about 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) extra on all sides. 3. Clean the Surface: Wipe the window or glass with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol. 4. Mist the Glass: Generously spray the glass surface with water. 5. Prepare the Film: Peel off the clear backing and mist the exposed side of the film too. This prevents excessive static cling during application. 6. Apply the Film: Align it as accurately as possible and let it adhere lightly to the glass. 7. Trim for Precision: Use the extra 0.5 inches for exact trimming once the film is in place. 8. Trim the Edges: Carefully use the razor knife from the kit to trim the film to the exact size. 9. Remove Air Bubbles: Start from the center and use a credit card to push air bubbles towards the edges. 10. Ensure Smoothness: Continue smoothing until all air bubbles are gone. 11. Final Adjustments: If further trimming is needed for a perfect fit, do so. Rewet the adjusted area and remove any new air bubbles with the card. I looked a long time before deciding on this particular brand. I actually wanted something with a design but nothing came in the size I needed and I didn’t want to have to use two pieces. That being said, this went up easy, but there are bubbles. They are not noticeable at all during the day but you can definitely see them at night. I may have enough to take this down and try a new piece. I did not try taking down the piece I had and replacing the same piece. I’m just not confident that that it would stick as well once it’s removed. It serves the purpose that I need for now. I am going to let this stay on for a while just to see how well it stays. You definitely cannot see through it, so if you want to be able to do that do not order this. It’s perfect for a bathroom window as far as a being able to see in or out but does let in a lot of light. I had blinds up before and this is much better. I think I would recommend it more for smaller windows than for larger ones. My window is 44 x 44”. ... show more

    • Easy to install, follow the directions

The Vinyl quality is good, feels thick and looks great when installed. Installation takes some practice to get good. My first several windows look a little like a toddler did them -- I'll need to get some more material and re-do some of them. I'm not going to rehash the directions that come with it -- read them, follow them, don't improvise. I improvised, and was sorry I did. Soap+water (as the instructions say) make the job a million times easier. It will stick just fine with water only, but it's really hard to move around and get placed right. A little soap allows it to slide a little to get good positioning. There's a metal straightedge and a razor in the tube - get them, use them. every so often, break off the blade to get a new/sharp edge, this will make your life easier. Cut out your window a little bigger than you need -- measure twice, cut once. Use the metal straightedge to trim to perfect edges. So - sounds like all of my issues were of my own doing -- this is partially true. So - why not five stars? First, the roll ends were not cut square. One edge was an inch or two longer than the other - so the ends of the roll were not 90 degree corners. It wasn't terribly obvious until I'd cut out a few window panes, and found them to have funky edges. So - this caused some unusable material on the roll at both ends, and caused me to have to re-cut several panes. My fault for not measuring all the sides and corners of my cut - my fault for assuming the roll was cut with square corners. But - jeez, I've never bought wrapping paper that didn't have square corners - why would I assume this wasn't straight either. My second issue was with the response from DuoFire - I contacted them about the issue soon after I found it (but way too far into my project to return the roll). Initial response was fast, with an offer to help resolve my problem - which was an acceptable solution to me -- however 3 weeks after I accepted their proposal to resolve the problem, I have not heard from them again at all after several attempts by me to contact them again - they have not contacted me back, so that was pretty disappointing.
