It was difficult to assemble; however , I have owned it for three years with lots of use and it has been an excellent BBQ. It has it all: Charcoal BBQ with adjustable coal levels.     • Not bad for one of the cheapest grills available
After reading the other reviews I was pretty worried that 1) it would arrive damaged, or 2) it would be a nightmare to assemble. For (1), luckily I was available when FedEx dropped off the package and was able to inspect it for any major packaging damage. There was some but nothing that seemed too major. Once I unpacked everything there were a few larger pieces that had been slightly bent/dented, but I was able to straighten them out with pliers and a mallet so that they look and work okay. BUT, I would say try to be there for delivery if you possibly can since this thing can apparently arrive pretty banged up. As for (2), I didn't have any problems. All the parts were present in the box and the instructions seemed straightforward enough to me. I'm an engineer and have always been very handy, so take that for what it's worth. It is a good idea to open the box and verify presence of all the parts (there are a lot of them) on arrival so that you can reach out to the manufacturer for any replacements if needed before starting assembly. Used it for a BBQ on the 4th, and it works very well as near as I can tell. I suppose a nicer grill would have more even cooking on the gas side, but I don't mind the variation. Never had a super fancy grill, but I figure finding the hot/less hot spots on a grill is all part of getting used to it. Time will tell how well it holds up over time, but as of now I'm certainly satisfied with my purchase. NOTE: I ordered a 64 inch cover for it and it fits perfectly. No need to get anything larger than that. ... show more

Got a really good price on this grill so I took a chance. Yep, it came damaged. Pounded out the worst of the dents with a nylon forming hammer, looks good as new, didn't even knock off any paint. Total build time was 4 1/2 hours, alone. I am a 60 year old woman, moderately active, somewhat familiar with tools, and have built mail order grills in the past. Yes, there's about a gazillion parts and the directions are mostly pictures. Study the pictures carefully, and orient your pieces as shown. Take your time. If you like puzzles, you will LOVE putting together this grill!! I do, so I had a pretty good time, actually used zero expletives. So worth it. I missed a good charcoal grill with an adjustable firebox. The gas grill works fine, did the manufacturers recommended 15 minute burn, no problems, temp quickly reached 500 degrees. Used the charcoal grill today, made some sublime, tender juicy ribs, with multiple layers of caramelized sauce, crispy and delicious on the outside, melt in your mouth tender on the inside. Only possible with a charcoal grill with an adjustable firebox, like this one. If I had paid full price, yes, I would have been mad about all the damage, so I took 1 star off, but I cannot deny results. This is a good grill; it's just a roll of the dice how badly damaged the one you may receive. I was able to quickly repair all the sheet metal damage because I have experience in sheet metal work, AND the tools, plus I got a great price. We love it! It took me and boyfriend 2 hours to put together, but with the help it went well. Lots of pieces, just have to look at directions and pictures as they dont tell you what to actually do. We used the gas side right away, it was hot with in 2 minutes and cooked our pesto shrimp in 5 minutes! Its definitely worth the price. We smoked some food with charcoal and woodchips. We made a salsa with some of it. It was awesome! There are 2 areas to control the temperature, letting the smoke roll out. We are excited to use this all the time! ... show more

I bought this grill thinking it would be a good one. The shipping was fast, about 3 days. The assembly took a lot of time, about 6-8 hours. The grill came in with some dented parts but I decided I could live with that issue as the dented parts were in places that didn't show. I finished putting this thing together and it was amazing looking. I put the bottle of gas in the bottom of the grill and connected it only to hear a hissing noise where the gas was escaping. I turned the gas off, tighten the connection as much as I could but it didn't matter what I did the gas was still leaking around the connection to the bottle. I called the manufacturing company and learned that the only recourse I had was to get a new connection line. The line was free but I would have to pay a rather high freight charge for that little line. I tried to get in touch with Amazon but could not. My only recourse was to take this monster apart , box it up and sent it back. This thing has been a real nightmare. I finally took the line off of my old grill and it fit exactly. I would advise anyone buying a grill to get it at Home Depot or Lowe's and avoid all of the turmoil and forget Amazon. ... show more

I almost did not buy this due to the reviews of many. The only real complaint most have was the difficulty putting it together. Personally I was able to put this together by myself in a couple of hours. No all the parts aren’t labeled. Just your hardware but to be fair I prefer it that way because those little stickers are very difficult to remove with out leaving a bunch of undesired residue. It looks great, it is very sturdy, and not overly heavy. Would definitely buy this again. ... show more

package arrived early, nice. the 'rice paper cardboard' was really damaged, didn't know if the grill inside was damaged. I did find a lot of damage to the lower platform and grill covers. I was able to repair most of that as I had no box to return it in. two fastener locations were missing on the grill leg that hold a grillage assembly with the bottom so I'm without that. to find a 2 1/4" long fastener that will pass thru the grillage frame is my next challenge. the assembly process was testy but straight forward and screws were well labeled making assembly easier along with the tools supplied. yet to use, in storage for now. ... show more
