I have twins with adjustable beds. Both are disabled/wheelchair bound but one has a little more mobility than the other. He tends to attempt sleep walking though he doesn't make it out the bed. We don't want a mishap and him falling or that ends up with him going to the ER with fractures due to weaker bone structure. He use to sleep in a larger bed but we changed it out with the smaller bed that can be adjusted, and his head raised up cause he needed it. Easier way for me to do it was getting the bottom halves set up first and putting those under the mattress so I can make sure the bars were set to the correct length. Then I set the top part across the top of the bed so I knew how far apart the bottom sets should be apart from each other to add the top bars. Again doing this for a single bed and I had no available help so had to do what worked best for me. Any bed larger I would probably suggest scooting it as close as you can get to the wall and tipping the mattress against the wall on its side. Then picking one end up to set the bottom halves on bottom to go under the matress. But I would highly suggest having a 2nd person there for safety reasons for any bigger beds and depending on how heavy and thick the mattress is. My son's mattress is still relatively new and very thick memory foam so he can not feel the bars through the mattress. Could see a problem with a thinner mattress or one with metal springs causing pain or irritation from the metal bars under it making it unleveled maybe. My father was going to attempt to make something like this out of pvc pipe but once he made a blueprint and averaged the cost, it wasn't far off from what this one costs. So we went with this. Looking to buy a 2nd one for my other son's bed since this one works so well. Though my other son sleeps like a rock. Safety for them is my main priority. ... show more

I got these Bed Guard Rails to help assist a 350 lb disabled individual to be able to get in and out of a full - size bed. I like that it can be used for a variety of size beds. It was easy to assemble but a little difficult to install. I wanted to use it on the bottom of the bed. To attach to each bedside railings However it only came with one strap. I wish it would have came with 2 or have the ability to purchase an extra strap, for extra safety stability. The plus for me is the ability to adjust the height and width of the bed handrail, also the anti slip foam on the rail is soft and cushiony.
