  • Great size gift and fun!
The media could not be loaded. We really like the drum and love the feature if you use headphone, it can be quite. Super easy to set up and have nice size; sounds very realistic. Kids love it!

  • It sounds great!
I bought this drum pad for my 3 year old grandson. I'm really impressed with the quality and sound! Much better than I anticipated, but I haven't fully used all features yet.

  • Family favorite
I got this as a toy for my children and my husband took a liking to it almost immediately. It’s responsive and I love the pedals that came with it to imitate the bass and high hat. The preloaded tunes are outdated and flat, but it’s great for anyone here to use.

  • It does what it says it'll do, but not great for drum students
The media could not be loaded. I would call this more of a toy vs. an instrument. The pacakge comes complete enough, including a pair of pedals for the bass drum and high hat along with drum sticks. They also pack some rubber toppers for the drum sticks to prevent their strike against the pad from overpowering the sound coming out of the speaker. The speaker is very loud at its full volume but it can also be turned down to a more reasonable level. It also supports headphones. My daughter, a budding musician, is learning percussion so I thought this might be a fun practice tool. Although she had fun playing with it my daughter says the pad targets are too small. She also said she had problems rolling the snare drum, etc. But as a toy it's fun and it might be a nice introduction to the instrument. It does say here in the product listing that it links up with a guitar-hero like game called "DTX" but I could not find any documentation in the box on how to get it all connected. ... show more

  • amazing practice set for the price
I *really* like this. I like to play drums, but I don't like how in Rock Band, you are penalized for doing your own thing, for not following the assigned beat. I like to improvise. So I spent a bunch of money on an electronic set. And rarely played it. This looks like a toy, but doesn't really play like one, except for one aspect. First, the negatives. 1) Most importantly: the pads are NOT touch/velocity sensitive. Hit it hard, hit it soft, it produced the same volume. You don't want to use this for subtle, emotional drumming. 2) the included pedals work okay, but they aren't that sensitive. You wouldn't want to do any intricate bass drum work, and you have time it REALLY well to get the high-hat release or it doesn't register at all. However, you could probably replace these pedals with decent-but-cheap versions from Roland or Behringer. You want a momentary pedal, not a latch. So that it holds/activates only as you press on it, and releases when you release. 3) The included speaker is cheap. Play along with the rhythm, and the bass drum sounds muddy and conflicts with other sounds. However, that problem goes away with decent headphones. Or connected to a 5W acoustic guitar speaker, it sounded really good, really clear. Okay, so do these things, and you've tripled or quadrupled the price of the setup. But then you've got something you can really practice professionally on. The good points: 1) the activators are very sensitive. You can do very rapid stick bounces, and even get a great snare drum roll. 2) the pads bounce very well, so you can get some good bounce rolls and bounce 32nd notes. You can work on your paradiddles and other rudiments. 3) the small size of the pad lets you work on precision 4) you can actually use this pad to practice cross hand or open hand drumming. I originally learned cross hand, and tried to transition to open hand drumming, and having something like this would have let me practice it anywhere, and so practice more often, and so make the transition much more quickly and easily. 5) in a pinch, once you get used to it, you absolutely could use this to jam with others. I don't think I'd want to use it at a performance, of course, because of the lack of velocity/touch sensitivity. The included drum rhythms aren't great, but they provide a beat to practice to and play off of. You also have an audio input, so you can easily practice to your favorite songs. I think this is a great vacation practice tool, or a great way to let someone try out drums and learn if they will really put the practice in before you invest in a full set. I'm really impressed. For a guitarist like me who will only play drums for fun, it's perfect. Small footprint, cheap price, lots of fun. Oh, and I don't think you need to put the rubber tips on the sticks. The size of the pads are already small...expanding the head of the stick just makes it easier to hit the other stick than the pad when you're doing any sort of roll or beat that uses both sticks on one drum head. And the pads don't show marks that easy. I've played it for about 2 hours and no marks yet. It's possible I am not hitting that hard, so your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • Awesome
My girlfriend's son is playing percussion in his middle school band. He actually chose the xylophone and now wants to explore more percussion instruments. This was great to let him get a taste of a real drum set without a huge investment and also without us having to hear it. It's a decent quality drum mat and the sound quality is decent. My girlfriend and I especially love that he can use it with headphones. ... show more

  • Fun toy for young kids
This is a nice drum toy for young kids to play on. It's not a simulation drum set. The speaker gets pretty loud but is adjustable. The qaulity and durability is ok for kids to bang on but a teenager can be strong enough to break the stick and set easily. It's certainly entertaining for a kid to play with and maybe spark an interest in music. The $60 asking price is a little much. It holds a $40 value in my opinion. ... show more
