  • It has all you need
I purchased this kit cuz I was ready to upgrade from my trashy kit to a more reliable instrument. Well, I think I chose the right one. This kit has everything you need. I was able to custom program a kit using various cymbal/drum sounds on kit 31. As a drummer progressing into metal, the ability to program a crash/ride into a china is big plus on this kit. The sound on this setup is clear and just sounds amazing. The drums and cymbals are very responsive and trigger well. I also purchased a double kick pedal and it works great on this kit. Definitely double kick friendly. So many other features I haven't tried yet but look forward to doing so. I've spent hours on this kit since I've received it and I absolutely love it and highly recommend, whether you're a beginner or professional. The only complaint I have is the headphones that are included with the kit sound horrible. Not clear sound at all. That aside, this kit is overall amazing and I recommend it, especially for the price. ... show more

  • Impressive Little Kit
I've wanted to play drums for 15+ years, but didn't have money or space for a kit. I play 6 instruments so I'm not new to music, but I'm a complete beginner at drums, so keep that in mind. This kit is the cheapest option that you won't outgrow too quickly. It sounds different depending on how hard you hit, and you can hit a cymbal and grab the edge to choke it, or stop the sound early. I'm very impressed and I'm glad I got the 4 cymbal version. The headphones are hot garbage, only one of the ears even works in mine, but you can get decent headphones that plug in and cover your ears without spending too much extra. Try for noise canceling headphones so you don't hear the sound of hitting the pads. I have a couple extras so one became my official drum headphones. If you want to play out loud, you'll need an amp to connect it to. Cheap way around that- check any online marketplace. There are always people that buy electric guitar kits and give up, usually those amps will be your cheapest option. It went together really easily, and I was set up and playing within 90 mins of getting the box! I love it so far. ... show more

  • Very fun
Im no pro but these are cool. The sound quality is nice through my mid level headphones. Obviously isn't as accurate or precise as the sounds you can get out of a well tuned acoustic set, however, these are excellent for the price. I have played these for many hours so far and love them. I really like integrating external audio from my laptop to play to drumless tracks on youtube. The strikes are registered most of the time, enough to where is isn't a deal breaker. I get a miss occasionally. The sensitivity on the drum heads is pretty good in terms of strike force vs volume. They respond well to how hard you play. The cymbals/ hi hats aren't so sensitive but workable for just jamming and hobbyists, certainly not a performance set. All in all I am happy with this set and love playing it when I can. I moved from an acoustic set that I don't have the space anymore for and because of volume for neighbors. The resident directly above doesn't hear it at all when I use headphones. ... show more

  • Love it.
Purchased the drum set to practice with a band I played with in my 20s in preparation for a reunion show. we needed to practice in different locations throughout the north east due to our schedules. Carrying my vintage Ludwig drum set with a 24 inch bass drum on it around all these places seem like a chore for somebody in there that was still in their 20s.😂 I had initially looked at a Roland TD 17 kit which retails for almost $1900. Knowing that I wasn’t about to start some electro band, I looked into cheaper alternatives. This was the best one I could find by far based on price what came in the box and the outbox capabilities as far as a midi-control unit. A plus plus on all fronts. Sound quality is good and if you link it to some simple sound editing software you can use real life studio recorded sets. That is pretty awesome for 400 bucks. That said, the 8 inch drums are a little tough for someone who likens their playing style to that of Animal from the muppets. Took a little while to get everything in the right spot but after some easy adjustments, everything is in its right place and I can rock out with the best of them. It is super easy to plug in your phone so you can play along to songs if you’re practicing or to plug it right into a PA, sound board, or bass amp and adjust the volume or anything else really right from the control unit. I know that sounds like a lot but two weeks ago. I didn’t know anything about this stuff so even the tweenager could figure the stuff out, most likely more effectively.🙂 ... show more

  • Does its job, packed too well
I bought this thinking it would be a nice upgrade from my old Roland TD-11K kit that's around 15 years old now...I figured the technology may have improved, the overall concept may have been refined a bit, but no such luck. NOTE: I did not take any time to try fine-tuning each pad's sound settings, as whatever is included as factory defaults should be sufficient to gauge play quality. This kit is affordable and does what it's supposed to do - ie: it plays a drum sound when you hit a drum pad. Unfortunately it feels more like playing a soundboard than a drum kit - by that I mean despite the drums all having mesh heads, when you hit a pad it plays the same sound, regardless of how firmly you hit the pad (see note above). One area this is most noticeable is with the hi-hat, it was either open or closed, no in-between...but again there may be settings I didn't fiddle with. Regardless, I would expect an electric kit to perform as intended out of the box, without the need for extra configuration. For the price, this kit would make a great gift for someone who's just starting out on drums, or wants a drum set-shaped soundboard. It does have a wide selection of sounds to choose from, but if you are an experienced drummer and want a good-sounding electric kit in a technical sense, I'd recommend just saving up a bit more and springing for a larger brand like Roland, as the product quality is proven and the company has a reputation to uphold. It costs more, but you get what you pay for. ... show more
