This set is expensive and you have to have several pieces of hardware to complete it. A beginner set would include everything even sticks. This is for experienced players and I think most beginners would be happier with a less expensive set and move up in a year or two. That being said, I love the mesh heads, they truly surprised me. The quality and features are better than I expected. There is still a difference in the feel and details of the sound you will pick up on from a real set. But that isn’t a huge deal, but something an experienced drummer will notice. The number of sets and shocking good sound through a pair of over the ear headphones is fantastic. Drums a very responsive and sensitive with great feel and feedback. I am not super into the cymbals.. A couple of sets have cymbals that sound good, but most do not, at least to me. I have 30 year old spun Zildjans so the bar is pretty high anyway. ... show more

Worked great, probably best value for the money until the brain module started having freezing and crashing issues, customer support let me ship off unit but it has been over a month without hearing back about my replacement/repair and they won’t reply back to emails. I have been playing acoustic drums for 45 years. I held off on buying electric drums for all of these years simply because I never was comfortable playing on them. I was always disappointed in the way they felt and sounded, so I just stayed away from them and stuck to playing acoustic drums.... Until now! I must admit after watching several videos of reviews from many other drummers I decided to look into the Alesis strata prime. I now am the proud owner of my first e-kit and I am not the least disappointed. I took my time calibrating each drum and made sure the mesh heads were tuned before I started playing. This Alesis kit is pretty amazing. The look, sounds, computer "brain," and user friendly controls are legit. They do not (at this time) offer Bluetooth Audio, for playback of your favorite music. That's the only negative for the entire kit. You can play along via the "Track Playback" feature (USB) or buy a splitter cable to plug into your phone/portable music device, so the lack of Bluetooth is not that severe. You can spend 4 hours on it, playing, tinkering with the controls, before you even know it. Very pleased with my purchase. Oh, and Amazon shipped it for free as part of Prime...And I got Rewards Points from my Amazon Visa. Awesome! ... show more

Response, and the feel for this kit is amazing. I looked at Roland for years, but pulled the trigger on this one and don’t regret it. Some review complaining at the lack of hi hat stand and kick pedal are silly. It’s common not to have these out of the box, and allows you to get the hardware you like the most. And it’s very clear in the description. Bad reviews for lack of reading details is pretty lame, even for a drummer. This kit feels perfect, super responsive, and a perfect “brain”.
