It has a utility where you can adjust all the sounds on the drums. It also has about 40 preset sounds. Just those alone you have multiple varieties of symbols and drum sounds. We bought this for our son's Christmas gift. He's 16 years old and has played in the school band since 6th grade. He uses his snare drum at home to practice and it is extremely loud. So when wanting to get him a full drum set we opted for the electric version. This enables him to wear his headphones and play as loudly as he likes, while mom and dad don't hear anything but his foot tapping. He was able to assemble it himself and figure out all the wiring and how to use it. He has since joined the praise team at church and is able to practice at home even more. I really like the kit overall. Just shipped yesterday, took me about and hour and a half to set up, then again, I am very particular about how my kit is set up so I spent extra time to get it just right. The box was well packaged and in good condition. Everything was there, my only complaint is that the brain terminal connector was bent and some of the prongs were too. Luckily I was able to bend it back in place (very carefully) and it ended up working out okay but the fact that it showed up like this was concerning. Other than that, great kit. Excellent e-drum set for practice at home. It sounds quite good when paired with an appropriate speaker; look for something specifically made for amplifying drums. I first tried it through a small guitar amp, and I was not impressed. But I have been using an amp made for electric drums for a couple of weeks (a Coolmusic DM80 -- just loud enough for my needs without annoying housemates and neighbors). It sounds great with an appropriate amplifier. I'm able to jam with friends and even overpower small practice amps with the drums/amp at high-volume settings (as an acoustic drum set typically does). This is my daughter's 1st drum set. So, we aren't experienced in other brands. This one had great reviews and she is happy with it so far! No issues at all and pretty easy to set up.

It can be a bit tricky to get it all set up but that is due to the large range of positions each part of the kit can be in (there are a lot of pivot points and a large range of elevations). The surfaces are a lot smaller than acoustic drums so it takes some practice to be able to move around the kit without hitting the sticks together or hitting the rims of the drums. The tradeoff is its compactness. I have not explored all the electronic features as I am getting back into drumming after a long interval. My 2Cans headphones work well with it and I also connect them to an old pair of Sony computer speakers from time to time. I have not yet connected them to a drum amp or a regular home stereo amp. I think this kit could be used in performance, especially as acoustic drums are almost always miked when used to perform, so their natural sound is rarely heard anyway.
