Description

The Non-Tilt Overbed Table from Drive Medical represents everything you want in a traditional and sturdy mobile bed table. The height-adjustable table rises and lowers easily, requiring the slightest of upward pressure, making it user-friendly for all ages and needs. The swivel casters make this rolling table extremely lightweight and comfortable to move from one position or room to the next. The laminated surface is textured, making it difficult for items to slide off your table, and once your desired height is reached, the tabletop locks firmly and safely into place. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty from Drive Medical, a leading brand of bath safety products, mobility aids, and other medical goods for more than 20 years, you can purchase with confidence.

  • Exactly what I wanted - a sturdy, mobile table for my laptop
I got this table to use while relaxing in my lounger in our game room so I can comfortably play World of Warcraft and browse the internet on my laptop. I'd previously used a lap desk, but I wanted a free-standing table not reliant on my lap. I'd looked at some smaller laptop tables, but wanted ample room for my mouse and whatever else, so I thought a table like this would be a great option. Overall it went smoothly, but there were a couple things I thought would be helpful to point out. Packaging The table was packaged well and the table top wrapped in plastic to protect it. All the hardware was packaged neatly and numbered according to the instructions. There were two straps around the box to keep it secured, but you could tell people had lifted it by those straps so they had cut into the box slightly. That didn't appear to cause any damage. My only packaging complaint is they screwed the mounting bracket through the plastic so I had to loosen the 8 screws to cleanly remove it. Assembly & Instructions I assembled this myself in a leisurely 30ish minutes. Some of that time was spent getting tools and petting dogs. You will need a large Phillips head screwdriver, 10mm wrench and they say a 16mm wrench, which I didn't have in my wrench set, but I used a 5/8" wrench successfully instead. I thought the instructions were very well written, easy to follow and clear. I included photos of the instructions so you can decide for yourself. The only assembly challenge I had was in step 5 - the holes didn't align properly. So I loosened the nut in step 4, adjusted the bracket and everything lined up. So maybe wait to completely tighten the nut in step 4 until you've ensured those holes are lined up. Lift Mechanism In reading the reviews, I was a bit worried that any time I barely grazed the table, it would pop up and fling my laptop across the room. That is not the case, fortunately. I can bump the bottom of the table pretty hard, and it only slightly moves up in small increments. If you open palm the bottom of the table (like waiters hold serving trays) you can slide the table up. It's not the smoothest action, since the lift rod keeps it from flying up, but it's not bad. I set my drink on it, pushed up and was fine. Nothing wild happened. The lowering lever is easy to use (especially when installed correctly). I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands and have somewhat poor grip, so it's nice to be able to use this lever with ease. Lowering is very smooth and simple. Sturdiness I expect to rarely have more than my laptop and mouse on here, so I'm not super concerned about a weight limit, but pressing down on the table, it feels sufficiently sturdy. Quality Structurally, I think the quality is great. It didn't take much to put it together and it feels strong. The table top does have some small chips around the edges where it was cut and I imagine I'm going to wear it down more by resting my arms on the edge. If it gets bad, I'll just wrap it in a PVC countertop wrap (like from EZ FAUX DECOR, which we used in our kitchen). The wheels are pretty basic wheels, nothing fancy, but they work great. Size The tabletop measures 15x30 inches. I can comfortably fit my laptop and mouse with room to spare. Overall This table is exactly what I wanted. It was easy to put together, it's easy to use and it's very sturdy. I'm so pleased with this table and recommend it for anyone wanting a reasonably priced, decently-sized, roll-around table that fits nicely around furniture. I hope this was helpful! ... show more

  • Budget overbed table with pros and cons
Last Oct I bought another brand of this type of table for my aging mother. It was about $25 dollars more. It was so versatile and well built I decided to get one for myself to use with tablets and laptops while in bed. I ordered this budget brand for comparison: Positives: The instructions have been revised from the old reviews, it is now clear and straightforward. Assembly took 10-15 minutes max. The frame’s build quality seems stable enough to hold up 20-25 pounds for an extended period. Rolls smoothly on its included 2” castors. Table top of 15x30 is generous for most items like laptops, tablets, food trays, etc. Negatives; Tabletop has no lip, no protective bumper for the edges. Tabletop veneer doesn’t seem to be coated with enough protectant. If you spill any liquids on it, the pressed wood may expand and puff out of the edged seams. Lever only works to lock down the position going DOWN ( the other brand locks it in both DOWN and UP positions ) This table is made so the upper adjustments are achieved with a slight upward pull, but hitting the table accidentally with your knees can cause it to move upwards, imagine hot soup or coffee sitting near the edge of the table, could be a bad scene. While rolling the cart, the rod makes an annoying rattling sound within the column. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s still a stellar value for my needs, but there are models for $20 -25 more that’s built more robustly, with a dual lock height latch, edge protective bumper, and better tabletop thickness and stonger sealant. ... show more

  • ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
THIS IS THE WORST TRAY I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HAVE USED IT FOR 1 WEEK SO FAR AND THE TRIM AROUND THE EDGING IS FALLING OFF. THE TABLE IS FLIMSY AND NOY STURDY AT ALL. THE LATCH THAT LOWERS/RAISES THE TABLE BARELY WORKS. IT GOES HIGHER WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT SENDING YOUR STUFF EVERYWHERE. TRYING TO LOWER IT IS A JOKE. YOU HAVE TO PUT ALL YOUR WEIGHT IN IT TO DO SO. I CONTACTED COMPANY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. NOW I AM STUCK WITH THIS PIECES OF CRAP AND OUT ALL THAT MONEY! ... show more

  • Difficult to adjust, doesn't work according to description
The media could not be loaded. My understanding of the ability to lower/raise the table was that it would take a fairly light touch but that is not at all the amount of pressure I have found that it takes to adjust this table. Was severely resistant and made scraping metal-on-metal noise with every movement. We checked every screw and connection in an attempt to loosen something up, make it move more easily, to no avail. I would definitely advise anyone with an issue that compromises strength in the arms or hands (e.g., older persons, those with joint pain, etc) to understand that you're most likely going to have significant difficulty using this product to its intended capacity. It could be just my individual table (got one with ill fitted pieces) but I wouldn't count on it. See video for demonstration of the above. ... show more
