  • Keep shopping
This product was obviously a previously returned item. It was boxed upside down, and had pieces either missing, or loose when not meant to be. It was not made as sturdily as expected. This, along with the above mentioned factors, prompted me to send it back for refund, rather than replacement. The concept this stove represented, is interesting and could be useful. The execution of the concept, particularly with durability, was lacking. ... show more

  • Works great!
Super easy to use and great for camping or at times when the electric goes out. I like that you can use wood, pellets, or charcoal.

  • A great addition to any camper or to stow away for a "rainy day"
I was impressed at the heft that this thing had. I expected it to be a bit lighter than it was, but then again, it's got a battery bank in it, and it seems to be built out of steel and aluminum (but don't quote me on that). The build quality is excellent. I feel like this thing will hold up to anything I throw at it. It came with some accessories, but they really want you to buy more of their accessories. I understand that, but not including some way to cook with it feels like a miss. But then again, many campers and preppers already have those things and probably have a brand they like/prefer more. Easy to set up and use. It only took me a few minutes to get this thing up and running. Came with a nice little USB light. I love this addition, and I'm glad they thought of it. Instead of building a light into the product, just include one with it. I wish it were orange like the stove, but now I'm overly picky. I know I mentioned it was easy to figure out - but a better user manual or even some instructions on the side of it would go a long way, especially if you're using this in a stressful situation. ... show more

  • Not Yet Ready For 5-Star Fame
At $199.00 (Amazon price at the time of purchase (Vine items are not free) and review) this has all the indicators that the sellers are trying to ensure they stayed under the $200 "I'm turned off by the price" mark. That's a shame, because in its current form it isn't quite worth what is being asked and I would have been glad to pay a little more to get a better product package. Don't get me wrong, this stove seems well-made. But I don't "love it" (5 stars) and I really don't "like it" (4 stars). I do find it "okay" and in the Amazon rating scheme that means "3 stars." Why? Well, The first thing that is missing is a carry bag. Without one, this is an awkward mess to carry (even with the handles (I would have put the handles on the current non-handles sides)); the the "accessories" need something to carry them in. So yes, a nice padded carry case is - to me - a must and thus, a big drawback and marketing miss here. I went to the freedomstoves dot com web site and there's really nothing there of value (like a bag); it seems that the site is still under construction. Instructions are adequate, but could be better. For instance, on the right side of the "fuel port" there is a little pin (that can fall out). What's its purpose? I thought there might be a way to use it to attach the "fuel port" cover to the main body, but no. So in addition to not being able to attach the cover to the body I now have another loose bit that a carry bag would help remedy. Another reviewer made the comment that if Freedom Stoves wanted a better product maybe they should have included a cook set, but that they maybe didn't because target users probably already had a set. I agree with this observation, but lean toward the including a set option (as I think Freedom Stoves would probably want a buyer to use it right off, thus "capturing" the sale). Speaking of "capturing the sale" I think it was a mistake not to include a small bag of pellets with the stove (meaning, all I have to do is provide the water). So don't get me wrong. I do like the stove. Absolutely ingenious idea. Really easy to use. But however, much I find the stove intriguing the package is missing items I think are a) essential (i.e., the bag) and/or b) smart marketing (i.e., cook set and pellets) in order to get it to 4-5 stars. Finally, the instructions need to be better and the web site needs to be up and running (tbh, it looks rather amateurish at this point). Version 1.0 is okay. If Freedom Stoves wants a 5-star item they need to get to v. 2.0 ASAP. Until then... 3 stars. ... show more

  • Just ok
I was excited about this product and unfortunately it was riddled with flaws. From poor placement of USB ports to the overall battery being lackluster, there’s just too many reasons as to why I can’t recommend this device. The quality of this product is also very poor, the materials are cheap and they feel to a certain degree hazardous. Like others mentioned requiring water to use this stove doesn’t necessarily make sense and does take away from the prepper aspect of this stove. It works, but it honestly isn’t impressive; there’s better ways to charge your devices and have a stove in the great outdoors. For what you get, I wasn’t necessarily happy with this product and wouldn’t recommend it. ... show more

I’m a handy guy and a outdoorsman, I could not get this thing to work right at all. It made its way into the trash in 1 day.

  • Portable furnace and power bank aio
Camping life is new to my family and me. We're trying to equip ourselves with the most practical necessities for outdoor life. This is my biggest purchase and so far I'm so glad I purchased it. Its lightweight- considering how multifunctional it is. The stove works well. Open fire is controlled and cooks as well as a gas stove eye. Its well made. Seems to be of good and durable quality. The power bank is awesome. We only used it to charge cell phones and a laptop. But no complaints. It even comes with a few accessories that we didn't use on this visit but its good to have for our next excursion. Because of the reasonable price point.. This is a no-brainer for any travelhead. • Works pretty well
This actually works pretty well. Unfortunately I do not use it enough to remember from one time to the next how to use it. It is not lightweight, but not too heavy to carry. Neat little camping cook stove. Seems sturdy enough. It is getting some rust on it in places.
