The media could not be loaded. I purchased the GHOSTXL on May 14, 2022. Since day one the audio recording was not right. When I could not find a solution after several days I reached out to Drift via Amazon. They fairly quickly seemed to get confused and forwarded me to Drift directly for “better support”. The camera never recorded audio correctly via the external microphone. Using the same microphone and required Drift adapter resulted in two very different experiences. If manually starting the recording (power on the unit with a long press then press a second time to start recording) the audio was great. If you turn on the one button recording feature (quick press the on button and the recording instantly starts) the audio is very distorted. Several email and video exchanges with Drift resulted in going thru hoops to try and get the issue across to them. In the end, they wanted me to try a Drift Microphone (and make another sale of their own branded products) but I failed to see the logic in their request. They were either truly not getting it, stalling and hoping I would go away. At one point I was asked (and I complied) to roll back the firmware on my camera. They also seemed to get confused a few times during out emails. PROS • Great Battery Life • Very good Image quality • Versatile mounting options • Very good build quality CONS • Proprietary external microphone jack cable • External microphone sound quality issues in auto (one button) record • Little to no customer support I returned the camera 6/13/22; one day before the return deadline with Amazon Prime. THANK YOU AMAZON for your support in making this right. Although I can’t be 100% sure, I feel DRIFT would have dragged their feet well beyond any return window and I have no confidence they would have provided a resolution as they were quick to offer groundless suggestions, almost as it they were not reading my emails or did not understand the issue. I am showing the emails below for those why may be curious as to what they may expect when reaching out to Drift for support. I loved my GHOSTX (older camera) and wanted to love this one, but the customer service experience was a total let down. The product is great a when it works, but the support behind I felt was lacking. I have attached a short video of the audio issue. I sent these same videos to DRIFTC support. In the end, I do not want to be stuck with a camera that does not work as promised and with no resolution in sight. Should DRIFTC reach out to me I will gladly update my review and rating but only if they step up and do what's right. I am not the only person with this issue. A quick search for this model and "audio issues" will easily show what others have been dealing with. My situation is not unique. If they reach out via email to me and can provide me a logical reason how the microphone can cause this then I will update this as well. Such a shame, I liked the camera otherwise I love my older DRIFTX and had high hopes for this camera. Maybe they will correct this issue in a future release. I have tried to resolve the issue with DRIFT via Amazon messaging. I have a microphone issue with this unit that persists. The issue presents when I use the instant on/ one touch record feature. The audio is very distorted. If I start the camera then manually start recording, the issue is not present. This occurs regardless of what mic I use. The fact I am using the same mic and mic adapter (supplied with the unit) tells me this must be a firmware, setting or some other camera issue. I have also tried adjusting the mic sensitivity down to 1 with the same results. Can you assist and let me know if there is a resolution for this known issue and if the v2034 firmware my camera came with is newer than the v2029 that is currently listed on the website. I sent two clips clearly showing the audio distortion. In both clips I am using the same external microphone with the same adapter that came with the camera. The only difference is the way I start up the recording. There are no issues whatsoever with manually starting the recording with the 3rd party microphone, but there are issues when I use the one button automatic recording feature. Kindly explain what the microphone has to do with this when the only aspect that changes is the way I start the recording. As an Engineer, this may point to a sign that the firmware or camera circuitry is looking at some other aspect differently for the microphone when starting in different modes. This was also a reason why I questioned being asked to downgrade my firmware as instructed by support. Newer firmware typically resolves these types of issues. Regards, ... show more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: 12/27/21 I've ridden my bike over 4,000 miles with this and not a single problem. There haven't been any firmware updates so the interface isn't the greatest but I've never needed to change the settings just format the SD card after I download the videos. Also use this in my cars. UPDATE: 12/13/20 I was able to connect to the camera with my iPhone SE (iOS 14) by turning Cellular data OFF. It must get confused when you connect via wifi. I only need to connect to make sure the camera level and the view I need and change settings. But you can also view any videos saved which could be useful out in the field. Also, video is much better than the video I posted here. Amazon upload compresses it a lot and it loses quality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been searching for a camera for my bike, something small but also works well. There were a couple of motorcycle reviews that said it worked for them so figured this would work for a bicycle. While it still is a bit larger than I would like and not the easiest thing to use when I finally got it connected to my iPhone it does what I need it to. But it only connects via wifi to my older iPhone 6 not my iPhone SE. It could be it only works on iOS 12 and not 14. Took me a while to finally figure that out. But once connected it does give me what I need: live view, access to recordings, and settings. You can connect to it anywhere as you connect to it directly using the wifi SSID of the camera. You don't need access to a wifi network. Accessing the settings was a big deal for me. I hate tiny little screens plus having to scroll through all of the settings to find the one you want but only one way not back. With the app on my iPhone I can scroll through them all on the one screen. Once setup I need to access the menu to format the memory card. I always format the card instead of erasing the files. I've never had a problem with a memory card. I can also access the photos and videos and live stream. This helped mainly to make sure the camera is aligned but also if something does happen I have immediate access to it. The resolution is fine for my use. Not intending to do online videos. I just need this in case something goes wrong. In 35 plus years of riding I only had one wreck which was caused by another cyclist. With a cam it could have been settled much sooner... This has no vibration reduction so over a bumpy surface like a pebbled driveway it does show up in the video. But it does well on a paved surface. I generally ride 3 to 4 hours so I haven't tried the full 9 hours. But I also intend to use this as a car cam whether driving or parked. I'm using a 128gb memory card which should work out well for most of what I will be using this for. You don't have to take the memory card out. I can just connect it via USB to my iMac and access all the photos and videos from Finder. The camera itself is built well but I wouldn't want it to fall off of my bike. There is no way to attach a safety strap so it needs to be mounted well and checked periodically. I like the lens rotation so you can mount the camera to fit where you need it. It's hard to find the right camera that works for your individual needs. I can see why reviews end up all over the place. This one works for me except that it doesn't work on newer iPhones. Hopefully they will update the firmware in the next 30 days to fix that or I'll have to look again for another cam. Video is clipped to shorten it but gives you some idea what it gives you. Not 4k but at least you can see what is going on. I hadn't realized it was mounted on a slight angle so it looks a little tilted. Also it is mounted on the left side so I'm not as close to the center line as it appears... It filmed the entire 40 mile trip in 5 minute segments. I'll either turn the sound off or add an external microphone. ... show more

I normally don't write reviews but have been using this camera for over a year and had no problems. Use it as both a dash and helmet camera so it is either baking on the dash or getting banged around and dropped almost on a weekly basis. Strongly recommend.
