    • RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE, ATTRACTIVE "CHEST OF DRAWERS"

Overall, we're happy with this chest of drawers. The rust color is quite attractive. The frame, sturdy. It's compact and yet designed to hold more than most traditional small dressers. There are a couple of things that bothered me. I asked that the package (which is heavy and large) be delivered to our front door. However, the box was left at our mailbox (a good 150 feet downhill from the front door). To be fair, delivery was made several days earlier than promised. Even though the assembled "chest" is lighter than a traditional all-wood dresser, it's still heavy for older folks to trek uphill. Second, there's a lot of Styrofoam and other protective packaging; this is good to protect but it seems like the manufacturer ought to be able to instruct the person opening the box on an easy way to do so. Third, the assembly instructions appear to have been written by Chinese folks in English. There are lots of diagrams, circles, arrows, and alphanumeric characters. Everything you need to assemble is included. But do watch the videos carefully. The three "ladder"-like components must all face the same direction. (You'd think the instructions would just say that in BIG BOLD letters - but apparently that's what the arrow means. The second thing to note is that they include two wrenches (at first, I thought this was just redundancy). If you look closely though, one of the wrenches actually has a Phelps-head screwdriver at one end. This is intended to use to screw the bolts that hold the drawer handles in place. Again, you would think that the people who wrote the beautifully illustrated instructions would just say that in BIG BOLD letters. One thing, I've discovered over the years is that whether the manufacturer is Chinese, Korean, or Japanese, the people who write instructions often assume that I have some mechanical savvy. My little brother always assembled his toy car and airplane models without ever reading the instructions (in fact, he usually threw the instructions away before he did anything else). But with me, if there is any way that I can assemble these things backwards, I promise you I will do it! Once you do figure out how the "chest" is to be assembled, it's easy. But it took me a good two hours (and three tries) to put it together correctly. We can hardly blame the manufacturer for my ineptitude. But I cannot help but remember the time back in the 80s when my boss got a great deal on a Kyocera copier - with all the icons, error messages, and next-to steps written in Japanese. After a few years, everyone in the office did manage to figure out that if you pushed this button and then that one when the light was flashing red or green, the copier was likely to do what you wanted. But wouldn't it have been much simpler had there been a switch that enabled English icons and instructions? That said - if you are looking for a compact, sturdy, attractive, and relatively inexpensive way to store your socks, tee-shirts, underwear, etc., I am happy to endorse this option. There are multiple colors to choose from; I love the rust. Definitely, thumbs up (and I hope that the manufacturer considers the fact that while American technology may be "superior", many Americans are klutzes (like me). Except my brother and it's worth noting that he always wound up with extra (unidentified) parts when he finished his models. He's a skilled electronic technologist for the military now and I am sure he still throws the instructions away first thing. So it goes! ... show more

I really loved the dresser, it was affordable and serves the purpose. It also kinds look good if you want to keep it outside (which I wasn’t expecting), but mine is in the closet. It was also easy to assemble and have enough storage.

I was looking for storage for my room but didn’t want to spend hundreds on a dresser. I also didn’t want something cheap either such as plastic drawers. I came across this during my search as an excellent option. It looks great and each drawer holds a lot. I was a bit skeptical of the fabric storage bins as they can fold/bend easily but they have been quite sturdy. Assembly was quite easy as well.
