  • Pros and Cons if you want to try one of these amazing strings
Pros: 1) Tight low end and mid, nice cutting high edge 2) Precise articulation 3) More tight feeling on strings, you can pluck harder and get that growl. 4) Slightly better performance on down tuning than other regular tension Dr strings (Not including DDT) Cons: 1) More rough and abrasive feeling on hand, not so killing pain, but I would definitely not recommend for new players with no protect calluses on their fingers. 2) The tension is higher than other Dr strings, this means more fatigue on your left hand. 3) B string still lacks some life on my 34 scale jazz bass, even though it is better than any other Dr strings in sounding. It could be my set up issue.... So far like above, it still sounds very vivid since my first purchase. You may not like the super metallic sound at the beginning, but that metallic sound will round off after a week. Groove on! ... show more

  • Exceedingly Bright Out of the Box
I received these today and put them on. I was looking for strings that would bring out the warmth of my Squire Jazz Natural with maple neck, DiMarzio Ultra Jazz 5 pickups and Audere pre-amp since I always felt it was too bright with the bass on, treble rolled off and only the neck pickup on. I was surprised to find that these strings are exceedingly bright right out of the box - brighter than the strings that were on it. Now I know that new strings tend to be bright when they're fresh but I didn't expect this. I recently put a set of DR Fat Beams on a stock Squire Jazz V with a rosewood-colored fretboard and the strings are match made in heaven. Plenty of warmth right out of the box. I'm going to give these strings some practice time and update this review later. Right now, I'm very disappointed. ... show more

  • Lowriders Love Two FUNK!!
I used to get a pair from guitar center drive 30 miles to get a set for like 60 bucks before a concert when I was younger in a band that had sick instrumentals and a sucky singer. Loved playing a show with a new pair of these.. if you use your thumb at all when you play.. then these are the ones!!

  • Incredible Bass Strings
These are some of the best bass strings you can buy. I've used them on the road, in the studio, for my guitar repair clients, and they NEVER let me down. They feel amazing, with a bit more tension. Super sound, and they look great. Well done DR, and made across the river in Jersey!

  • completely useless
bottom string broke immediately when trying to tighten it, never had this happen on any strings, especially not the lowest/biggest string. what a huge disappointment

  • really like these strings
They are used on a G&L 2500 bass with Ampeg bass amp - they sound great- I play bass in a church group mostly and also will backup old country . Stay in tune ,nice bright sound .

  • Love DR, just not this set
I love DR strings, and have used pure blues & high beams in the past. I tried these low beams on a whim, and the strings are very sticky with sliding. They have a lot of friction on them, perhaps it's the round wound and over the hex core...

  • Great strings
Put these on my Fender Jazz Custom 5 string and love the sound. Good articulation and clear, rich sound without being too bright and twangy. My sound guy was complaining that my low B sounded "muddy" with the factory Fenders strings which came on the bass. no more! The only con - the E and B strings have a much coarser winding than I would like but...hey...I can live with that. ... show more
