  • My go-to Bass Strings
I've been using DR strings for many years now. Not just the Hi-Beams. If you're looking for a bright tone with plenty of body, these are a good option. They are stainless steel, so your fingers will feel the difference if you're coming from nickel strings. In other words, they are harder. But this also makes them last longer and sound brighter for a longer period of time. Unfortunately, it's not hard to ruin the strings either. I've had my bass sit in environments where just a few weeks were enough to make the strings sound dull. Be aware of this when you use these strings: they are sensitive to moisture/humidity. They will still sound good, but the tone will change drastically. (some people actually like that) ... show more

  • Low B issues on ESP bass
the strings are nice and bright without a doubt, but the low B string's first fat wrap gets wound up on the tuning peg. looks bad and compromises the string. I wrote email to DR several weeks ago but they've never gotten back to me. I love the fact they are a small company and making these by hand, the videos are quite interesting, BUT unfortunately I'll be going back to Ernie Ball because their strings fit perfectly and these do not =( ... show more

  • Bad B string
On a Lakland DJ5 35" scale bass, poor B string performance. Warbly and wolf tones galore. D'addario strings were much less wolfy. The EADG strings were fine, so I'd not hesitate to use these on a 4 string. But, the B string kind of kills this set for me. Edit- the strings die very unevenly. E string becomes a useless dull thud and gets progressively brighter up every string. G string still pretty bright. I’ll stick with prosteels. ... show more

  • If you like stainless steel strings... look no further
I started using these in 2002. They’re bright and last a decent amount of time if you keep them clean.

Reviews I read before purchasing were true! This will be my GO TO bass string set from now on!

  • Great Strings
I use these on my Samick Fairlane (a Fender J Bass copy) and they sound great. All the strings sound great although that can very depending on the quality of your bass and pickups (especially a problem with 5 string basses) but on my bass (which cost less than $300) they sound great.

  • Great strings
Great strings, I’ve used them for years. Light core tension like I like, perfect gauge for doing long gigs and not wearing your hands out. So much cheaper than to buy at guitar center! Showed up on time, and undamaged!
