Description

The Dr. Infrared Heater greenhouse heater is designed to tender precious plants. We understand space is very important in smaller greenhouses, therefore, our heater will take zero floor space. The big difference between conventional greenhouse heaters is efficiency. Conventional fan force heater will circulate and heat up the whole room with the majority of the heat lost through walls, floor, and ceiling. The infrared greenhouse heater will apply warmth directly to the plants with very minimal heat lost through the walls. Effectively, infrared heaters are more efficient at applying heat to plants. Our greenhouse heater can be mounted on the wall, or ceiling, or even hang down from the ceiling with the provided chains and accessories. Dr. Heater is designed with a plug-and-play thermal cord that will sense the temperature close to the plant and feedback to the heater for auto temperature control. The heater can be operated in Smart mode - auto-regulate the temperature, or manual mode - with full control by the user. All Dr. Heater products are designed in the USA and are listed by nationally recognized safety laboratories such as UL and ETL.

I thought knowing the exact temperature would be nice but after setting it all up inside my outdoor dog kennel, I found that I really did not need to know what exact temperature it was but only whether it was warm enough for my dog. I do not think you need this model for outdoor mounting with wind etc. But it could be very useful for indoor use, if you needed to keep a room in your house or office at a certain temperature. And, of course very useful for greenhouses with delicate plants. Easy to set up, gives off good heat. Thermometer works well but outdoors with wind, and sun etc, it is very difficult to get an accurate reading which will change minute by minute depending on conditions. ... show more

After moving to a new city further north just before last winter, it was an unwelcome surprise to find out that my garage was too chilly to be an effective winter time workspace. I tried a small space heater that we had used in other spaces, but it didn't make a dent in the much larger garage. Now with this much larger heater setup, I'm confident this winter will be a different story. This heater is clearly meant to hang from a ceiling - it has hardware and mounting for that - and that's perfect for me, I have the chains looped over exposed rafters. So it was easy to set up and plug into an existing plug (standard 110v) and get going. Even on the lower setting it puts out a good amount of heat. While I haven't been able to test it in the coldest part of winter (obviously), it's done well QUICKLY on some cooler and rainy nights so I imagine while it won't be summer time hot in the middle of winter, it will be at least tolerable which is what I'm going for (and this is for an oversized, uninsulated 2 car garage, if you have a smaller or better insulated space, it will do even better). And the heater seems well built enough to last through a few winters at least (likely a lot more). So all in all, this seems like a great solution to a garage or other outer space that's just too chilly. And it's a great price when you consider you're getting square footage back! So if you have a cold space, give it a try! ... show more

This is a good heater. I got it for for my workshed. It was easy to install, it just needs to be mounted on two brackets (included) and placed near an outlet. It throws out a lot of heat, using infrared technology. The remote works. It has 3 levels of heat. I wish it was more programmable.

I operate a small greenhouse and use this hanging from the ceiling to generate and provide enough heat for the plants in case it gets too cold. Now it hasn't gotten cold enough yet to actually use it, but I have tested it and boy does thing thing put out heat. Enough heat that it could probably keep the entire 8ft x 16ft greenhouse warm in mid winter ice storms.     • Good Heat Source... but Lacking Mounting Options

I work in my garage year round, and in Wisconsin that means some bitter cold work days in the middle of winter. In an effort to try to save myself from winter misery, I decided to pick up this overhead heater in hopes it will keep me warmer on the coldest of days. Fortunately, I can say I’m confident the heat output on this unit will meet my needs. After testing the heater out, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of heat it generates. That said, anyone thinking about picking up one of these units needs to be aware that tit doesn't come with any sort of stand or mounting brackets. In fact, the packaging and instructions provide some guidance on overhead hanging mounts using the included chain (think pool table light), but such a setup creates obvious issues with the heating capabilities of this unit. After all, heat rises. So, if this heater is mounted horizontally on a hanging chain mount from a beam or ceiling... all it is really going to do is heat the area above it. Remember, there isn't a fan pushing air out of this heater. It is simply radiant heat. Given this issue, I’m going to have to get creative regarding how I find a way to make this heater more practical and efficient. I feel it necessary to ensure I get the most out of this heather and avoid any situations where this heater may become a hazard. With a better way to efficiently and safely mount/use this heater it would be a five star product, but the current set up creates issues I can't look past. As such, the heater earns a 4/5 star rating for doing a good job keeping things warm… but missing the mark on mounting options. ... show more
