I spent several weeks researching reliable, affordable, easy to use scanners. I wanted a duplex scanner that could do both documents and pictures. Looked at Epson, Cannon, Brother, Fujistsu... Ultimately decided to try this one and several hundred scans later I am so happy I did!! Here's what I love about it - 1) Machine is super compact - it really is tiny and doesn't take up much space 2) Installation was super simple - it was really easy to set up. Materials are clear and packaging was super very minimal. Compatible with PC. 3) LOVE the software - comes with software that is super simple to navigate. Software is smart and removes empty pages on document scans which I LOOOOOOOVE. Software care store continually, save on network or email 4) Feeder works - automatic paper feeder works. After several hundred scans (possibly a thousand) there was one time it mis-fed and the paper was folded. 5) Like supporting small thoughtful business - you can tell these folks care about what they do and their employees. Even marketing materials reflect inclusive principles and that matters to me as a consumer. 6)Comes with 1 year warranty - vs 30 days on all other machines 7) Scan quality is excellent! I have had the Doxie Pro DX for about one week now. I am very pleased with my decision thus far and while I was a bit hesitant to purchase from an unknown, the consensus among the reviews found on Amazon made it feel safe with regards to value, function, reliability, useability, and quality. Further, I found comfort in the collective praise of Doxie's support and customer service. Initial impressions are that this purchase does represent a remarkable value, functionality is awesome as is ease of use. The fit, finish, and sturdiness of the machine is readily apparent, and exudes quality, and suggests that 'reliability' is a dead-ringer to follow suite. There was not one thing that I noticed about the construction that raises any concern. The machine is compact but do not allow that to lead you to believe that it is anything but a powerhouse. Every desk at my last place of employment had higher end scanners commercial scanners (similiar to Cannon Imagepro) costing upwards of $700 tp $900 each. The Doxie quality and function seem to compete directly with them. Whereas the machine being replaced (an HP Office Pro 8610 all-in-one) is an inexpensively produced for home-use scanner that simply exudes 'not-a-player' when compared to the Doxie. Lastly, the support - customer service machine makes sure you are satisfied ... trust me - these folks are engaged. You cannot want for help without it finding you... but, as advertised, the set-up is super, super easy. Time will tell the rest of the story ... but so too do the Amazon reviews, so I do not think I will be anything but satisfied for the foreseeable future. Buy with confidence!! ... show more

    • Scanning is almost fun
I've been trying to go paperless at home, but there never seems to be an end to contracts, bills, invoices, etc. that still come in paper form (and I need to keep a copy of) despite all my efforts to choose electronic delivery. I had a portable scanner before but it only fed one sheet at a time and sometimes would go in crooked so I had to redo the same page over and over again. Taking pictures with my phone was just as tedious for multipage documents and trying to stitch them together. The Doxie Pro arrived with a stack of papers I needed to scan (and have been dreading). The unit was incredibly easy to set up. Not many steps and the one page of instructions were super simple. I installed the software on an M1 Mac Mini and it recognized the device without a hitch. (Nice touch that the scanner arrived with cables for both a USB A and USB C connection to the computer.) The scanner is pretty quick (especially compared to a portable scanner) and scans both sides automatically. It also took a small stack of papers (5-10 pages at a time -- I didn't have any longer documents) easily, even when those documents had a pretty significant fold in them from the mail. The scans were clear and didn't need to be adjusted or cropped. This is my second Doxie so I knew I liked the software and it continued to perform well. Many devices just don't have great Mac support and though there's nothing fancy about the Doxie software, it did reliably work and was straightforward to understand. Set up took a total of 3 minutes and going through a stack of papers, naming them, and organizing them in my online storage took another 15 minutes. I was actually looking for more papers to scan when I was done because I couldn't believe it went by so quickly. And when I was done, really easy to unplug everything and reclaim the space next to my computer. I'm almost waiting for another stack of papers to pile up to scan again. :/ ... show more
