    • Experiment for area rug on carpet

I ordered this as an experiment. I have wall to wall carpeting that has seen better days in my 'high traffic' home office and had ordered a nice area rug to put on top and freshen up the space. Unfortunately, the area rug was 'creeping' terribly and I was tripping over it. I read online that a felt rug pad without grippers can help solve that problem. I admit that when I ordered this one, I didn't notice the little grippy dots and thought that it was just felt. So, not exactly what I was trying to test. I will also say that this mat does not at all claim to be for use on top of carpeting so I can't take anything on the rating for that feature. That aside, this didn't completely solve my problem but it did make it measurably better. The mat grips the area rug fairly well. I have not tried this on a hardwood floor but from what I can see, I imagine it will do quite well. The only complaint that I have is that it's a little bit too large and it isn't the type of material that can be cut very easily. For now, I have adjusted my area rug so that it covers on the side that is most visible with a small amount of excess at the opposite end. ... show more

I was so tired of going through the typical non-slip pads which are not non-slip at all if they get even a little bit dirty. This on the other hand is not only non-slip but it gives a really nice cushion underneath your rug. I'll never go back to the old kind!

I was a little nervous ordering this because there was only one review, but after reading reviews of other rug pads, I decided on this one. I am happy I did. It has no odor. It lays flat and holds the rug in place very well. It isn’t super thick, but it works great for my hallway runner.
