What can I say, this product was the greatest invention to be found. My toddler kept opening the basement door and my husband and I were afraid she would one day open it and tumble down the steps. I like this strap a lot! It works really well for letting our cats down the basement but keeping the toddler out. Unfortunately, my toddler has almost pinched his fingers in the door trying to close it. Almost with the strap with stiff so you couldn’t open or close the door.

The media could not be loaded. We bought these as another precaution for our 4 year old who elopes. She tends to get into rooms she shouldn’t and use to escape the screen door constantly. We first got for our screen door and the adhesive works sooooo well. We chose to add rubber bands to ours to make the pull open less so she could fit her little body through the opening. I ordered ten of these and installed them about a year ago (I originally posted this as five because it was for 5 doors, but I bought 2 per door). Since then, every single one has failed. They fall right off, often taking paint with them. They can also only be used from one side of a door, so you need two per door if you need them to lock from either side, and that only works if you don't have people on both sides of the door because they can only be disengaged from the side of the door they're on.. I've replaced all of them with Door Monkeys which are half the cost (if you factor in needing two per door to use the Door Buddy), don't damage paint, and work from either side of the door. I've included a picture of a failed Door Buddy (complete with paint damage) and the Door Monkey I used to replace it. Also, after seeing my review, the company contacted me to offer me "paint protectors" so I could remove the Door Buddies and reapply them. They insisted this would make them stronger, so they absolutely know that they don't stick as is AND that they damage paint; they just don't care. I chose a refund instead, but they were only willing to refund one of the 10 I bought as a "courtesy." An $18ish refund doesn't really cut it when I'm actually out close to $180, damaged paint, AND the cost of buying a better product to replace them. Plus, this is a safety product, and the company seems well aware the product does not stick and is therefore unsafe. ... show more

My 2 year old boy loves to find ways to open doors and try to run off into the front yard alone. I bought this hoping it would keep him from being able to open the screen. I put it up high enough that he couldn’t reach it and it worked great! I like to keep the front door open on nice sunny days and before this I was having to keep my front door shut. These door straps are genius! I have a rambunctious toddling grandbaby that visits me and my cats and stays overnight a couple times a week. So I bought 2 straps, one each for my bedroom and bathroom doors. The instructions were very clear and the straps were easily attached to the doors and door frames with the super sticky pads. I placed mine in what was referred to as the stronger hold position. They are very easy to latch and unlatch, even for a grandmother wth carpal tunnel and arthritis. Now my cats have access to their refuge in my bedroom away from the pitter-patter of little feet; and to their litter boxes in the bathroom... and my toddler does NOT. The only thing I would caution you about is to be sure that you adjust them to only accommodate your cat, and narrow enough that a voracious toddler won't get stuck in. (I keep a very close eye on my little visitor all the time anyway). *They would not be suitable to use for any pet larger than an average size cat. They look 'clean' and don't detract from the appearance of my home. In fact I've gotten compliments on how they look and the cleverness of the concept. They are definitely worth the money.
