    • Super easy! Barely an inconvenience!

So you have a review for me? Yes sir I do! I was thinking I could install some child cabinet safety locks to keep my baby out of the kitchen cabinets. These locks installed great! I was able to install them right side up as shown in the photos for the product, but I was ALSO able to install these locks upside down and on their sides and they still work great. The magnetic feature makes them completely invisible from the outside so if you don’t want anyone to know they are there, they don’t have to know. The package does include some small cute butterfly stickers so you can place them on the outside of the cabinet to indicate where you should hold the magnet to unlock when needed, but I opted not to use them as I prefer the cleaner look without the stickers. I know where I placed the locks after all. As for the magnet “keys” that are used to unlock the cabinets, the package comes with two included, and magnetic mounts to “store” or “hold” them when not actively using them. The mounts just like the locks also use 3M PE Foam stickers to adhere to whatever flat smooth surface you’d like to place them. HOWEVER since these magnet keys are magnets I opted to just put them on the fridge and they will hold just fine there. Additionally, really any sufficiently strong magnet should be able to unlock the cabinets so if you misplace the magnet keys that come with the set, just use another fairly powerful magnet and you should be fine. As for the locks themselves, they are super easy to install. Barely an inconvenience. I recommend reading the instructions and watching the video so you can know how to use the installation guide mount. I missed it on the first one I installed, but even without that, it came out ok. It’s much easier and quicker with the guide mount used properly though, so again, I highly recommend using that instead. The really neat thing about the locks is that they can be turned on or off as shown in the product images. To turn them on, you just “flip the switch” so to speak and it allows the hook to descend and allows it to catch the other part mounted on the inside of the cabinet. Again it doesn’t matter what orientation you mount the lock in because the hook will work right-side-up, upside-down, or any side you put it on. Mounting locks on the side is tight! As for the strength of the locks/adhesive, I have to say they/it all seems very strong. Haven’t had an issue with them yet. My child hasn’t really pulled very hard at them just yet, but judging by me pulling on them they shouldn’t come off by any means. Wow wow wow, WOW! ... show more

Bought these on sale to replace our old-school spring locks. The way our cabinets are designed, my fingers barely fit between the cabinet facing and the doors to release the lock, and my husband had to use a butter knife. Not sustainable. As far as the locks go - five stars. The adhesive is strong, the magnets are easy to operate. We appreciate that the set we got came with three locks so there’s always one near us in the kitchen. The locks keep our twin boys from dragging everything out to get covered in dog hair, saving us money because we’re running the dishwasher less. Also haven’t found them walking around with a vegetable peeler in their mouth again. If you have standard cabinets and drawers, these will be a breeze to install. The collar they’ve included to line the catch up with the lock is GENIUS. I watched a troubleshooting video before I got started and was glad I did - we’re lucky and both our drawers AND cabinets required some special attention to get these to install. It’s not the manufacturer’s fault our cabinets are extra, and we needed locks regardless, which is why these still get 5* from me. But I figured I’d post some pictures and a couple notes in case you’re in our situation. Drawers: our drawer facings are not flush with the sides. We had to use a block to raise the lock to the appropriate height to hit the catch. This was noted in the troubleshooting video, but no mention was made of what the block was or where to get it. I ripped a piece of 1/4” plywood we had, chopped it to the appropriate length with a mitre saw, and adhered them to our drawers with 1” wood screws. Tip: go get the big paint stirrers they sell for 5 gallon buckets of paint. They’re the same depth and already an appropriate width. You can just chop and go. If you don’t want to screw them to your door, you could line the back with 3M adhesive strips; I preferred the security of the screws. Cabinets: our doors have an interior bevel which doesn’t allow the adhesive to sit flush on the door. By installing the catch where the collar sat flush in the corner of the door opening, it put the lock in a spot where one side and the top had a strip of adhesive touch the door. I reinforced with the manufacturer-provided screws. The screws felt lightweight and a little cheap, but didn’t strip! ... show more
