Color: Rainbow Owl
This one was a little difficult but worth the effort. It turned out amazing and just as pictured.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Fun But Very Tedious!
Color: Rainbow Owl
Not for kids. And only for adults that are 💯 on completing projects and not easily frustrated. This was my first paint by number and I knew I’d complete it if I spent the money. And I did after about 6 weeks of working on it almost daily, sometimes for several hours at a time. It is extremely time consuming and tedious. If you want a good result, you MUST spend a few more dollars on some decent fine brushes. (I bought these green ones on Amazon.) Also, you will need to mix bits of paint with water in the lid and keep it fairly thin for a good result. The paint is too thick to use as is. But the colors are pretty and once the canvas is stretched on a frame, the result will be great. I don’t know if I’d do another paint by number but I probably will. It’s a great podcast activity at least! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Activity and Gift
Got this as an activity to do for myself and gift to my parents for Christmas. I picked the Koi picture. It came out very well and was much more realistic/detailed compared to other PBNs that I've done. I wish they had more similar ones.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Turns Out Beautifully
I feel that this kit is for intermediary to advanced painters due to a lot of very tiny spots that you will need a magnifying glass to stay in the lines. The kit had nice smooth paint and plenty of it, however it was folded into eighths and there were some creases that didn't want to iron out but weren't very noticeable once the project was done. A lot of the hues were a liitle different from the finished project photo, as it turned out a bit brighter in spots than I anticipated. #3 color was a cool gray instead of a warm gray being the most noticeable, but visually blends in well in a low lit room. Some spots are also missing numbers, but if you look at the little photo you should be able to figure out what color it is by the others near it. But overall it turned out quite pretty and I am pleased with it. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars No colors to mix! Easy to paint with a fine pointed brush and patience.
Color: Lucky Owl
I was not clear that the canvas would arrive folded. I used my quilting room iron WITHOUT STEAM on the backside to flatten the piece smooth. I had stretched canvases already (a chain craft store often has Buy One Get Two Free - so I had 3 canvases for $20). I used Gorilla Super Glue to attach the canvas over one I had ( glue on sides and back of finished canvas...not behind where you will paint). Fast drying super glue let me attach one edge and once set - I could pull opposite side tight before applying glue to it. Got great results - and it was easier for me to paint on the stretched canvas ( edges are wood, can turn and rest on my lap) I had to use a magnifying glass to reference the painting instructions - but it was useful to get correct paint color when touching up edges. I am nearly finished. I am feathering edges in the background to remove the crisp lines (the right side has feathering...the left side doesn’t at this point) Loving the results. Will be gifting this Owl to my daughter for her new apartment. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Odd size not true 16x20
Color: Lucky Owl
I struggle with giving this between three and four stars. It is a pretty picture, but it was a little tedious to complete. Some of the distinctions in Color were completely unnecessary and you'll figure that out as you go. There's like five or six versions of white, off-white, beige, that make absolutely no difference to the final product. I think it's because a computer must predict when a color change happens or something. Save yourself some time and ignore a lot of the small white changes along the borders. But I digress . my major complaint with this is threefold. 1) some of the paints completely dried up. I had to put this project away for a few months and came back to it. Even paints that I hadn't opened were dry by then. You can add water to revitalize them, but since this is such a detail-oriented project it's hard to use those diluted Paints in the small areas. 2) especially with the whites, numbers and lines were very hard to cover. Expect to paint many areas two to three times over.3) and this is a big one. The final finished area is more like 19.5 in by 15.5 in. If you try to frame it with 16 x 20 stretcher bars you're going to have huge white areas. If you pay for the weird size of 15 by 19 stretcher bars , be very careful because the tail or head may get cut off. For a cheap little project you don't want to end up spending big bucks on a custom frame. I went with 15x19 in the end.. Tail a bit cut off ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun with reasonable expectations
Color: Rainbow Owl
I loved the design. The colors I received were not as pictured but I don’t care as I use my own. The one area I have a complaint is that some of the spaces are so small they are hard to see, let alone paint. Really enjoyed this one.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice activity despite of few frustrations!
Color: Rainbow Owl
A friend of mine ask me to buy this for her mom. Here's what her mom said; "These paint by number canvases allow someone who has a big desire but little talent to create something beautiful. Though I don’t know if it’s supposed to be, but a lot of my paints were very thick. The canvas is also textured, much like a normal canvas but it makes things more difficult. The brushes provided are too big so I used my own but even still it was hard because the paint would just glob on. I’d rather have a painting with less details if I have to use these paints and canvas together. I’m not even 1/4 of the way done yet but it’s still a nice activity despite the few frustrations. Extremely time consuming though, don’t expect to finish it in one day or even a couple days. This is definitely going to take a few weeks." ... show more
