    • Iron on low or warp your canvas. I was excited to do this, now I'm disappointed.
xackcme Landscape Paint by Numbers I was very excited to get this. I haven't done a paint by numbers in 30+ years. Back then they were on heavy duty cardboards. Then many years later I saw them in retail stores sold on rolled up canvas. These arrive with the canvas folded. Terrible packing choice as the fold lines are pretty bad. WARNING the instructions suggest ironing out the folds but it does NOT tell you what temperature to use. I have been an artist a long time and I work with cotton and linen canvas, There is a coating on these canvas for the printed surface and it shrinks and WARPS under heat that is too high. The cotton and/or linen of the canvas may be able to take the higher settings but the printed on side certainly cannot. Use a maximum of "silk" setting level heat. I started out on low, the worked my way up but a few of the fold lines were still not coming out so I went to a higher setting. HUGE mistake. And the warp does NOT iron back out. So... use a lower iron settings, and accept you will likely not get all of the fold lines out. I am disappointed in how bad the warp is and my guess is even with acrylic paint on the canvas the warp will remain and basically render the piece ... well, massively flawed. So I am undecided if I am going to paint this or not or maybe order a replacement instead. A few more things - The color reference image is smaller than an smart phone screen. - The print quality and the readability is good but if you are like me, you'll need your reading glasses. - The paint is acrylic paint. It says OIL several times in several places in the product description. - The brushes are 'okay' quality. As with any brushes with acrylic paints, if you let any paint dry inside the bristles or barrel the paint brush bristles will spread. - The fold lines are pretty annoying, even after ironed out. - The numbers map they send with it would be a nice touch if it were larger, Maybe with a magnifying glass you could maybe figure out and match up the map with the painting. I am giving it 3 stars because expecting customers to just KNOW what setting to use to iron out the fold lines is ridiculous since we don't know what all is ON the canvas. And at the safer lower settings the fold lines do not fully come out. ... show more

    • What a headache!

Before I start, I should admit that what I experienced may very well be an outlier and not the norm. While I still love the potential in the picture, what I got was a multi-week shipping delay and then when the product finally arrived, the canvas was folded in halves instead of being rolled. Since then I've used an iron to get out most of the fold lines (but not all). But even then, trying to tape it flat against my foam board shows how warped the picture still is and I can't get it completely flat on top of it all. At this point I'm having to consider buying the equipment to stretch it or just give up and toss it in the trash. I know it wasn't expensive but this has been the first time I've experienced canvas in such bad shape. I'm afraid I'd spend weeks painting it and then it still has issues after final framing. Edit: I did try to start painting it and then came up against the issue of how dark the numbers are on the canvas. Even with multiple coats of a white paint pen to lighten the numbers, they are still showing through on the lighter colors, also after multiple coats. Based on other reviews, it appears all of the xackcme paintings may have this issue which is disappointing. I won't be buying anymore of them and this one is going in the trash. ... show more

This was my first paint by numbers, This has a lot of small areas to paint and took me several months of working. Worked only for few hours on weekends to complete Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and what a nice way to keep oneself occupied and distracted. I think it came out very well. It does look slightly more realistic in the photograph than in person but that is true with any painting though. ... show more
