Bought for my Surface Pro 3 - installed automatically. Device Manager shows it as Sensors->ublox 7 GPS/GNSS Location Sensor. Windows 10 Maps found it and was ready to go in all less of 5 minutes. What a breath of fresh air! No more dealing with old school com port GPS and then trying to convert it to location sensor!!!! Also installed it on a Dell 6400 laptop with different results. I spent hours trying to locate and download a driver for this product. It has evidently been discontinued by the manufacturer. The driver download page are no longer online and have dead links. My Windows 10 does not have a correct driver. Not recommended

    • Great Unit
These are great GPS units. I typically attach a USB extension to them so I can position them for better reception and not have to adjust the position of the computer. I am not sure how much power they draw, but the Raspberry Pi 4 occasionally gives a power warning.

I purchased these for use in a time keeping project. They are a little slow to "lock" on despite being in clear view. FYI, these are not for use indoors, must have view of the sky.

    • it will get a better driver that WILL work with the Windows 10 Maps ...
Ordered two-pack. Tried with three Windows 10 computers and it works well. After plugging in the device, let it do its thing installing a basic driver. Then go to "Device Manager" under "Ports" and "Sensors" do a driver update; it will get a better driver that WILL work with the Windows 10 Maps app. Ordered 2 more two-packs to give as gifts. ... show more

    • Very suseptible to RFI from neaby electronics
I had bought one of these from a different vendor, and it worked poorly when I took it on a vacation, sometimes taking an hour to find satellites. Due to circumstances related to a cheap USB OTG adapter, this first unit was dropped multiple times on this vacation. The case on this unit has an annoying ability to pop off and the pieces go flying when dropped on a hard floor from 4 feet up. By the end of the vacation, I could not get the unit to work at all. When I got home, I found that one of the pins of one of the diodes had been knocked free of the circuit board, and the glass top of the real time clock Christal case had been cracked. It still worked when I plugged this directly into my desktop PC. I fixed the disconnected diode (I think it was for charging the super capacitor), and it was working as well as it ever did. I found that a wire had broken in the USB OTG cable. Others had reported quick fixes with these units, so I bought a pair from the page this review is on to see if I had gotten a bad unit. The new units are identical to the original with the exception of the sticker on the back of the unit with the resellers info. Performance seems to be the same too. I did some experiments, and found the performance was poor when plugged into the computer via the USB OTG cable (about 3" long), but good when plugged in via an extension cable. With the extension cable, some satellites were reporting 43 dB SNR, without they were reporting about 35 dB, and sometimes taking a very long time to lock. Unless you have a very quiet PC, get an extension cable so you can move this device at least 3 to 4 feet away from any other electronics.
