I picked up a few of these to make quick-and-dirty dipole antennas, common mode chokes, and various other ham radio antenna parts and accessories. Unlike the other style of SO-239 connectors (whatever they're called), you have the convenience of the ground ring to which to solder your wire, and these connectors haven't disappointed—a bit of flux and the solder takes to the ring like nobody's business. The center pin seems quite sturdy and robust, and takes solder just fine. Of course, being of greater mass, it'll take longer to heat up—but even so I had no issues getting a wire to bond to the pin. I did notice that, after soldering, the dielectric (with the central pin) spins freely. Not an issue for me, and might be par for the course, but something to note. There will certainly be a handful of these in my kit at all times! ... show more

Good connectors. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because they are zinc plated instead of silver plated. I needed to solder to the outside flange, but just sanded off the zinc plating and soldered to the underlying brass. Well made and very good value for the money

They are good connectors from what I can tell. Threads are clean. Overall finish is very good. Center connector is nice and snug with good spring back. Both center pin and shell are easy to solder. I was able to solder to back side of shell with no real prep. Just used good Kester 44 rosin core solder and a hot iron. Best of all, the insulator did not melt soldering the center or shell. A little more expensive than some of the other listings but worth it based on what I saw at a local ham-fest. I bought them a second time. ... show more

These are well made, however the screw connector that penetrates the “bulkhead” side is way too short. Very hard to get into a pvc cap without countersinking it and even then just barely grabbed thread. Everything soldered up well and it appears to be very well made with clean cut threads and no shorts present in it. ... show more
