    • BUY A 5 INCH GRINDING CUP if corners matter for your project
I waffled between 4 and 5 stars for this, because it does have some shortcomings in how it attaches - the instructions don't help much and the hose clamp popped back a notch before tightening enough to stop all movement. However, for the price, it's impeccable and I'm honestly amazed how well it works. Somewhat my own fault, I just read the headline that included "Universal" and thought my Porter Cable corded grinder would work. It didn't, but my cordless Craftsman V20 did and I decided to give my project a shot before dropping money on another grinder. I only had to grind a less than 4x4' area of slab for a shower tray, and happily the cordless one kept up fine, though I did have to recharge the battery once. I used a shop vac running behind a cyclone separator, and the dust collection was nearly perfect, verified by my particle counter (want to be sure the air is clear lest my wife walks in and breathe a lungful of silica dust). You should still wear a respirator if you're inside, but you might not even need one outside. FYI, I have a mid-size 1.5" shop vac hose in my arsenal with a rubber end that fit nice and tight with a little persuading, so I luckily didn't have to mess with any adapters. Now we get to my review's headline. If you need to get right up to an edge, get a 5 inch wheel because the sliding window will leave a gap with just a 4 inch wheel, which I had gotten to be sure I didn't overwhelm my (corded when I originally planned this) grinder. When I was almost done, I figured I should make sure even the edges (think about 3/4 inch or so) were bond prepped, so I took the hood off - and replaced the conventional guard! - and went at it. An hour later that dust, which within seconds made the air visibly cloudy, is still being slowly pulled out of my bathroom by the fan. So, yeah. If edges matter get a 5 inch wheel for finishing work at least. I'd still probably use just a 4 inch wheel for normal work unless you have a big 11-amp corded grinder. ... show more

    • Worked well and NO dust!
I found this product was well made and easy to use. I used it on my Hitachi 4" grinder. It comes with multiple adapters and one of them fit the collar on my grinder. I have seen a few comments about the clamp. From my experience these stainless steel hose clamps almost always slip if over-tightened and this one was no exception. However, I thought it was actually convenient to allow the dust collector to rotate a little during use. They did provide an extra clamp. The spring-loaded brushes on the dust collector worked well and I had no problem keeping it flat on the floor with minimal pressure. I used it with the 1-1/4" hose for my small shop vacuum but I adapted that hose to connect to my large shop vacuum. A little duct tape kept everything together securely.     • Could get it on my corded DeWalt...with a little effort.
Saw a video recommending to remove the shield lever thing and the big coiled spring...didn't bother to remove the little spring for the lever. Then, just pushed the dust shield down as far as it could go and tightened up the hose clamp. Did not use any adapters or spacers. Worked mostly okay, but every once in a while a puff of dust would escape. With the adjustable piece open to get close to wall, obviously that exposes more dust to escape.     • No more dust clouds!
I bought this to grind down high spots on leveling compound and at transitions of concrete. In the past when I have used the grinder on concrete, clouds of dust have gone everywhere. What a change when using this. No dust going out at all. I used a dewalt electric grinder attached to a dewalt shop vac. I needed to remove both the shroud on the grinder and the adjustment lever. With these removed I was able to fit the dust shroud on without a problem. Had to duct tape on an adaptor so the shop vac hose would attach to the shroud. All in all a great inexpensive way to eliminate grinder dust getting everywhere. ... show more

    • Works great the first time.
It works right off the bat; however, it didn't fit my Makita 4.5 inch Grinder perfectly. At the time, my model was listed on the description page, but now it seems they changed the description. It makes sense; I used the clamping washer/ring, but can only get it seated about 3/32th of an inch to 1/8th of an inch. With that said, after tighten the worm/hose clamp and trying to get it leveled with grinding wheel, and adjusting some more, add a few tape here and there, it worked perfectly. I would say my favorite factor is the amount of dust it removes from the air. With the proper vacuum attachment, I can trust that the amount of dust removed is going into my shop vac. In terms of dust collecting I would give a 5 Star rating. Now why I gave it three stars. It worked absolutely great the first time, but when I had to install it the second time, the clamp broke and the springs(used to push the brush down) in the dust shroud were stuck. I had to spend a good amount of time, cleaning, lubing, and removing the brushes from the Dust shroud and resetting the springs in it. They do provide you with two extra clamps, but seeing that my Makita grinder doesn't fit as snug in first place cause the second clamp to break. There is a potential chance I had over tighten the clamp , but getting it seated, without it moving, with only ~3/32" - 1/8" mating space is rather tough. This time I had to just leave the dust shroud attach to the grinder in the remainder of my renovation. If The description at the time did not list my grinder model, then this review would be different because I felt I had to use tape and spend more time getting it to sit better. So far I used it for about 2500 sqft over the course of a month now and it is holding up. Sometimes the flush grinding door will randomly open while grinding and that can be annoying.     • Must have for dust control
The media could not be loaded. Having asthma this was the only way for my husband to grind off old tile thinset without creating dangerous clouds of dust that would have certainly made me ill. This product is brilliant!
